"Lexie's right." Owen's voice came from behind me where he was sitting next to a shell-shocked Christina. "We need to get out of here as soon as possible."
Derek's POV
"Hand me some more gauze." Mirandas voice rang out as she turned toward me. I rummaged through her small medical bag and handed her our last roll of gauze. She carefully wrapped it around a large cut Meredith's head double checking her work before standing up.
"It's as good as its going to get." She said looking over at me.
"Okay everyone we need to get going!" Owen called helping Christina to her feet before helping Arizona who was finally fully conscious.
As we made our way toward the wall of debris Alex called out for the firefighters that were supposed to be waiting for us.
"Guys? Hello!?"
"They left..." Richard said in complete shock.
"Oh... oh god!" Izzy said as tears dropped down her face.
"Everyone it's okay! We made it this far we can do it again!" I said and everyone turned to look at me.
"We need to make a system. Everyone who is not injured go stand over there." I said pointing to my left side. Mark, Richard, Miranda, Addison, Callie, Izzy and Owen went to my left. Arizona, Lexie, Alex, George and Christina (only after Owen forced her to) stayed on my right. I still had Meredith in my arms, but I was fine.
"Okay. Mark, Callie, Richard and Izzy you guys are going to climb over the wall and help everyone get down. Miranda, Addison, Owen and I will help everyone up."Slowly Mark started climbing the wall. He slowly made it to the top narrowly avoiding a large nail pocking out from the debris. Callie followed him, she was almost at the top when her foot slipped. She screamed as she started to fall. Then a hand appeared at the other side and Mark grabbed onto her wrist.
"Gotcha." He pulled her up and helped her down the other side as Richard started to climb the wall. I held my breath until Mark had helped him down. Izzy went next she scaled the wall pretty fast and made it to the top without a problem. I heard Alex release a breath as Mark grabbed onto her hand."Ready!" Came Marks slightly muffled voice.
Owen climbed to the top of the wall and found a small groove that he shoved his foot into. So he would be steady when helping everyone else up. Addison climbed just at Owens thigh level and sat down on a large piece of debris. Miranda was slightly off the ground both feet pushed into a small groove. I stood at the base and carefully passed Meredith to George.
I carefully helped Lexie up to Miranda. Her broken arm cradled to her side and she clutched Miranda for support. As she reached Owens height he grabbed her waist and lifted her the rest of the way up. Marks hand appeared and she grabbed on it. Everyone let out a breath of relief as Richard called that she had gotten down safely.
Arizona was next, she had a hard time moving because of her burns. She hissed in pain as she lifted her leg up as she struggled to reach Addison. Arizona took twice as long as Lexie and was in tears by the time she reached Mark. Christina swatted my hand away as she started climbing. When she was at the top of the wall her feet slipped. Owen was quick to grab her.
"No! No no no!" She suddenly started hysterically crying and shaking. Owen helped her get her feet back underneath her and started rubbing her back as we waited for her episode of PTSD to pass.
After five minutes she shakily grabbed onto Mark and disappeared onto the other side.
Alex climbed the wall slightly faster than Lexie and had no problems. He hissed in pain once when he knocked his shoulder on the wall but he said he was fine and continued.
George grimaced as he moved his legs. Burns covered his calfs and it obviously hurt him to walk. He slowly made it to the top before being helped down the other side.
Finally the only person left was Meredith, who George had handed to me before he started climbing. We decided I would climb the wall with Meredith until I reached Owen. His part was the hardest. We would then lift her over and Mark would need to grab her.
I started climbing but as I reached Addison my foot slipped on something wet. I started slipping before Addison grabbed the collar of my shirt. I finally managed to regain my footing when I looked down. I slipped on blood. Then I realized it was trickling down Meredith's arm coming from a large gash hidden under her now mostly red scrub top.
I held back a sob as I carefully passed Meredith's limp body to Owen. He slowly climbed the last foot and handed her off to Mark before turning around towards me. We both stared at each other with wide eyes. Both of our shirts were covered in bright red blood. Mine was much worse but Owen had only held Meredith for five minutes at the most and his shirt was undeniably stained with red.
"Mark! Someone check where Meredith is bleeding! It's either on her side or back!"
"Shit!" Came the reply from the other side of the wall.
"Guys talk to me!" I called as I carefully helped Miranda and Addison up to Owen.
When nobody replied I because really worried. I climbed the wall behind Owen and jumped down to the other side.
Richard had Marks shirt in his hands and was pressing it against Meredith's right side. There was a jagged cut running from the top of her ribs around to the small of her back.
"We need to get out of here now!" Owen said as he tied the shirt around Meredith's abdomen.
As we all started going as fast as possible something exploded from behind us and flames submerged us.
