Small Town Girl

Chapter 4

"Tanner D hurry up and grab something to eat. I want to find my dorm already!" I say impatiently.

"Be patient, my stomach hasn't told me what I want to buy yet." He says with a smirk looking at me.

"Fine, but if you don't have anything to eat in the next 5 minutes I'm going to take your truck and drive to the college myself." I give him a threatening look.

"You wouldn't." he says with a quick look of panic but it disappears quickly when he holds up his keys, "Actually you can't because I have the keys."

"Fine, I'll walk then. We are only a few blocks from the college." I say with a smirk on my face this time as I start turning around.

"Oh, fine." He mumbles grabbing a Mt. Dew and a Snickers bar.

"Yay!" I say pulling him to the counter has he laughs.

As we pull into the college I jump around excitedly ready to find my dorm to move in. He laughs at me as I jump out of his truck and start running to the main building to get all of my school imformation.

"Here is your room key. You don't have a roomate yet because she graduated last year and we couldn't find someone to room with you this year." The lady at the front desk says.

"That's ok. I think I can manage without a roomate. I've had this school memorized since 7th grade when I had all of my FFA competitions here in High School and JH." I say smiling.

"Let's just say she has wanted to go here since she was little." Tanner D explains to the lady as she laughs at me.

"I can tell." She said has I pull Tanner D out the doors toward the dorms.

As we walk along the side walk to my dorm building Tanner D and I hold hands while I show him all of the buildings where I'll have classes. We finally came up to my dorm and we take the small flight of stairs up to my small room. When we walk in I notice that it is a smaller room but I understand with this being a smaller school.

"Well let's start getting you unpacked." Tanner D said while looking around the room.

"Sure, I'll sort my clothes. If you want too you can get my boxes with my school supplies and stuff from home. I'll go get your truck and pull it up next to the building." I tell him grabbing his keys and walking out of the room.

We brought all of the suitcases and boxes up the stairs and started unpacking. I start filling the little dresser on the side of the room that I want and also the closet. When I got done with my clothes I went over to check on Tanner D. He had the school supplies boxes empty and was working on my things from home. He grabbed the bed sheets and helped me make the bed and then when he reached into the box he pulled out a picture.

"Is this us?" He asks showing me the picture.

"Yes it is. It is us our Freshman year at Homecoming. It was the first dance we went to together even though we weren't dating at the time." I say looking at the picture and remembering all of the slow dances and the people shoving us closer together that night.

"You've kept this?" He asks then in a cute voice he says, "Awwww this shows how much you really like me even back then."

"Yes." I say blushing.

"We'll put this right here next to your bed so I am the first and last person you see everyday." He says walking over to the night stand next to my bed setting the picture down.

"I don't know I might be scarred for life if I have to look at you everyday." I say giggling and hugging him.

"Haha very funny." He says before kissing my forehead.

We cruise around town for a while killing time before he has to head back. We make plans to go and get him moved into his dorm next weekend. He drops me off at my dorm and wishing me luck at my first week of school before leaving again.

My first week of school was very fun. I met some new friends. The two girls are Lexi and Alex and I also found out that they're roomates and their dorm is right across the hall from mine. I also met Raymond (Ray), Nathaniel (Nate), and Mark. I'm pretty sure Ray has a thing for Lexi and Nate has a thing for Alex. I think it is cute because the girls are clueless about it.

"Hey, you guys do you want to go hang out at the golf course since it's Friday and we don't have classes tomorrow?" Ray asks coming up to the rest of us.

"Sure!" Lexi says really quick and excited. I give her questioning look and she blushed and looks down. I realize that she also has feeling for Ray.

"I'm up for it if the rest of you are. We just can't stay out to late because my boyfriend is picking me up in the morning so we can move him into his dorms." I say helping Lexi out.

"Sure, we're up for it." Everyone else replies.

We all walk to the golf course with blankets to sit on the grass and star gaze. Lexi and Ray share a blanket, Nate and Alex share one, and Mark and I get to share one. Yay! (Note the sarcasm.) We played a few games. I refused to play spin the bottle so we played tag instead. When it started getting dark we all sat on our blankets to look at the stars. After noticing how quite it was I noticed that Lexi was sleeping with her head on Ray's chest and the Alex was snuggled up with Nate. I tried laying as far as I could from Mark on the blanket but it was hard where he is about 6'3" and a really muscular guy. I started feeling his hand reach for mine and I jumped off the blanket.

"What are you doing!" I hiss at him trying not to disturb the others.

"Well I thought since Ray has Lexi and Nate has Alex, that we could be a thing." Mark replys embarrassed.

"Didn't you hear me earlier, I have a boyfriend." I tell him still sitting on the grass.

"Oh, but maybe it won't work out for you two. Then will you go out with me?" He asks hopefully.

"No, Tanner D is my boyfriend and has been for the last two years and my crush since like 4th grade! I will always love Tanner D and we will always be together!" I yell really furious with him for saying such a thing and making the others jump.

"Danielle, are you okay?" Lexi asks with a look of concern.

"Yeah, I'm fine, I'm just going to head back to the dorms so I can get a good night sleep to see my boyfriend tomorrow." I said walking away putting emphasis on boyfriend for Mark's sake.
