Small Town Girl

Chapter 6

Today is my 19th birthday and I decided to dress up more than normal. I wore a baby blue lace dress with a thick brown belt. I also wore a pair of boots that Keziah and Jasmine bought me. For jewerly I had a brown bracelet and earings and I left my hair down, but I still did little make up. I was just finishing up when I heard a knock on the door.

"Come in." I call out.

"Happy Birthday Danielle!" Lexi and Alex come screaming in.

"Thank you guys! Oh you guys didn't have to get me any thing." I say as they start handing me a present.

"But we want you to have this. You have been an awesome friend these first few weeks of school and we want to show our appreciation to you." They say handing me the present.

I open the present and find framed picture of Tanner and me from when he picked me up a few weeks ago.

"How did you guys get this." I said amazed running my finger along the frame.

"Well when you where hugging I got out my phone and took pictures and this was the best one, so we framed it for you."

"Thank you so much, I love it!" I say giving them both a hug.

"We knew you would, and come on the guys want to give you their gift before you go off with Tanner." They say dragging me down stairs.

When we got down stairs Ray was holding a very big bag. "This is from us three for your birthday." He said handing it to me. It was very heavy

"Thank you guys!" I said opening it and pulling out the whole Harry Potter book series. "I love it!"

"I'll go run these up stairs real quick before Tanner gets here." I said running up stair missing the loom from Mark when I said Tanner's name.

By the time I came back down stairs Tanner was walking up to my friends.

"Hey you guys, is Danielle ready?" He asked eyeing Mark.

"Yep I'm right here." I say hugging him from behind.

"That's great amd I figured I would give you my present here." He says turning around and putting a gold heart shapes locket around my neck. I open it and see a picture of me and him at homecoming out freshman year and the same picture that the girls just gave me.

"I love it." I say quietly taking in its beauty.

"I'm glad you love it. Are you ready to leave now?" He asks taking my hand.

"I'm all ready, see you guys later." I say heading to Tanner's truck with him.

"So where are we going?" I ask Tanner when we got in his truck.

"It's a surpise." He says winning at me.

"Fine." I said. I wasn't going to try prying it out of him. I knew it wasn't going to work.

We drove out of Curtis and drove till we get to the Interstate. We were on the Interstate until about Kearney and then Tanner pulled off.

"What are we doing in Kearney?" I ask looking at him.

"You'll see." He says smiling at my confused look. We pull up to the Big Apple and a big grin spreads across my face.

"You up for a game of laser tag." He says laughing at my face of excitement.

"You bet I am, and I'm going to whoop your butt!" I say getting out of the truck.
