Small Town Girl

Chapter 9

~Tanner's POV~

"Ugh." I groaned waking up to I my phone ringing. I looked to see that it was my mom calling.

"Hey, mom" I say trying to sound awake.

"Happy Birthday, Sweetie!" She says cheerfully.

"Thanks mom, but is this the only reason why you are calling at ..... 6:30 in the morning?" I ask pausing to look at my clock.

"No," she sighs" I was also wondering if you had from Danielle."

"No, mom I haven't I would have called if I did."

"Ok, well have a great day!"

"I will mom, bye."

"Bye"

I roll over to get more sleep but since my mom woke me up I couldn't. So I decide to get up and take a shower before seeing what Jackson wanted to do today. When I got out of the shower and got dressed, I went over to Jackson to wake him up. He wouldn't wake up so I went back to the bathroom for a cold cup of water.  I walked back out and dumped it on him.

"WHAT THE HECK, DUDE! Why did you just throw water on me!" He said jumping out of bed and shaking the water of him and his shaggy brown hair was flopping every where.

"Well I didn't know what you wanted to do today and you wouldn't wake up. Plus my mom woke me up and I couldn't go back to sleep."

"Oh, ya! Happy Birthday dude!" He said duh slapping his forhead.

"So what do you want to I today." I say laughing at him.

"Ummm....let's see......do you want to go to go bowling?"

"Sure, get dressed and we can head out now." I say laying down on my bed and Jackson walked to the bathroom. Just as I layed down I got another phone call.

"Whose calling you at 8 in the morning." Jackson called from the bathroom.

"I don't know. Oh it's Tanner, Jasmine boyfriend." I shouted back.

"Hey, man what's up."

"Well first I want to wish you a Happy Birthday! And second I want to ask if you would be one of my grooms men at my wedding?"

"Thanks, and sure. When did you propose?"

"Last night but we waited till today to tell anyone."

"Oh, ok. Who else is going to be part of the wedding party?"

"Ummm, Damien is going to be my best man. Micheal, Colton, you, and Chandler, a friend of mine from Valentine, is going to be the grooms men. Jasmine wants Danielle to be the Maid of Honor.  Then she wants her cousin, Kaylee, Keziah, Maggie to be brides maids." He says. Micheal is about three years older than us. Damien and Colten are a year older than us and Kaylee and Maggie are our age.

"Oh, ok. When is ths wedding and has Danielle said yes?" I ask hopefully

"I think so. Jaz is on the phone with her right now. And the wedding will be in April so about two months."

"Oh. Well I better let you two go to plan your wedding. See you in two months."

"See ya" He says as I hang up and throw my phone to the door of my bed. I layed there out of it for a while that i didnt notice Jackson come out of the bathroom.

"Hey are you ok?" He asks concerned.

"Ya," I sigh, "I just got asked be in a wedding."

"Awesome! Why aren't you excited?" He asks seeing my face.

"Well Danielle is going to be there too and I haven't seen her since her birthday 4 months ago."

"Oh,"  He says softly, then he cheers up, "You can't let that ruin your birthday though. So let's get going."

"Ok, ok, I'm coming." I say laughing as he is trying to get me to go out the door.

On our way to the Bowling Alley we both jam out to the radio. When we finally reach the Alley we climbed out of Jackson's truck and raced inside. We got our shoes and played a few rounds of bowling. We ordered pizza for lunch, time really does fly when your having fun. We then went and played at the arcade. We finally grew bored so we decide to head back to the dorms.

We stopped at the mail boxes before heading up and I noticed that I had a package. It didn't have a return address on it. When we went up stairs I opened it and imediatly knew who it was from.

"Wow, that is an awesome art kit! Who sent it to you?" He asked gabbing the rapping then threw it away not seeing a return address.

"It was from Danielle." I whisper hoping he didn't hear.

"Oh." He says back clearly hearing me. "Hey there's a letter." He's says grabbing it off the bottom of the box.

"Let me see it." I say grabbing it and I start reading.

Dear Tanner,
       I'm hoping you don't see this but you probably will. I got this for you before we broke up and i still wanted you to have it. I hope you like it and have a great day.

I handed the letter to Jackson to read.

"Wow, I'd say she still had feelings for you."

"That doesn't matter, she is probably with Mark right now on date." I say angrily flopping on to my bed.

"Don't be a doubter, maybe you be better at the wedding." He says laying on his bed.

"Whatever." I say rolling to face the wall.

I hear him grab a book to start studing. I should study too but I'm to mad and tired. I eventually fall a sleep.

~Tanner's Dream~

I was walking down the aisle with Danielle on my arm. It wasn't our wedding it was Jasmine and Tanner's. We just were paired together. We walks out before Jasmine in her wedding dress before standing by the rest of the wedding party. Danielle and I keep looking at each other. I made a face at her and she smlied her beautiful smile that makes my heart pound faster. Then we were at the reception and Danielle was sitting over by Jasmine and Keziah talking and giggling. Then Danielle looked up and caught my eye. We were staring into each others eyes for a long time before Keziah nudged her noticing where she was looking. I walked over to her and asked if she would care to dance with me. She stood up to take my hand and I lead her to the dance floor. We danced to a slow song and when it was over we stated into each others eyes again. Then next thing I know I'm leaning on for a kiss and she closed her eyes and does the same.

~End of Dream~

I woke up right before the kiss and noticed it was only 10 o'clock p.m. I roll over trying to sleep again, but the dream kept playing over and over in my mind. Finally about 11 I was able to fall sleep again.
