An empty shopping center is where they ended up.
"I'll take the left side and you take the right" She told him.
"No, we aren't splitting up" He told me.
"Rick, I can take care of myself"
"We can start in the middle, then get farther as we go"
"Fine" I sighed.
He went into the first store in the middle and she went to the one in the next to him. It was an old pharmacy, shelves were dusty and scarce. Through the aisles she went. She had forgotten to check the store first, make Rick was right she couldn't. She realized it but kept going.
She walked and tripped over a shopping basket.
"Shit" She cursed.
Then a door was ajar, and then spilling out walkers. She was on the ground, her foot caught in a shopping.
"Fuck!" She yelled, calling for Rick but without saying his name.
Rick heard her cry and dropped everything. He ran to the pharmacy, going through the store looking for her. She was nowhere to be seen and he just saw walkers huddling over something.
Rick felt still and stuck, in place, couldn't move. He shook his head in disbelief she could be gone so quick. He should've never split up and it was his fault. Tears welted in his eyes. He yelled in rage and pulled out his axe, walkers heads turned to him and he slayed them one by one. Blood and brain matter spilling all over him.
One overpowered him and was grabbing at him from above. He held the walker above his head, yelling in a struggle. Then the weight was lifted off of him after a rush of blood spilled all over his mouth and beard. He grabbed his gun and kept it pointed in defense but then saw y/n.
"Y/n, what?" He asked in shock "I-I thought they had you"
"No, they'd never take me out" She said nonchalantly.
She reached a hand for him and he took it, then grasping her in his arms, keeping her close.
"I'd kiss you but I got blood all over my face" He mumbled "I love you"
"I love you too, so you should probably get that poison off your face in case it turns you"
