Chapter 13 - Pull Me Closer

*Jesse's Pov*

There was a bit of traffic on the way to Jamie's house but I was only 5 minutes late.

I walked up the steps to her house and saw the door was already open which was weird.

She said she was alone but I heard voices, I went inside and saw Jamie and Zion having a very heated conversation.

What was going on. Is she gonna forgive him? Is he gonna hurt her. I hope the answer was neither.

I was able to catch the last part of Jamie's sentence.

" I don't have feelings for you. "

Was she serious? Did she mean it? I sure hope so. They still haven't noticed me so I decided to speak up to let them know I was here.

"What's going on here? "

Jamie looked startled but quickly recovered while Zion just looked mad.

"Jesse please make him leave. " She said which made my heart flutter. She wanted him gone not me.

I took her hand and pulled her in close to me.

"Get away from her. " Zion said when he looked at our hands touching.

I was actually holding her hand. It felt great.

" I think you're the one who's not wanted here Zion. "

"She doesn't know what she wants and even if she did, she certainly doesn't want you. So I'm asking you now to take your hands off her. "

"Make me. " I said with a smug look on my face.

"Leave now or I'll call the cops. " Jamie said. She's probably scared a fight will break out. Is she afraid I'll hurt her again?

"Jamie look me in the eye and tell me you don't feel anything for me. Then I'll go but if not I'm not leaving here. " Zion said ignoring her threat.

Will she tell him? Does she really feel nothing for him.

"Zion I feel absolutely nothing for you. Now please leave. " she said all this while staring straight at him.

He looked disappointed but couldn't I be more elated. I have a chance.

He left and slammed the door loudly behind him.

What a jerk. He doesn't deserve her.

She looked like she would fall apart at any second.

"Are you ok? "

What is wrong with me? Who asks such a stupid question? Of course she's not okay. I can't think straight around this girl.

"I don't know. " Her voice sounded so frail and weak, like she would break at any second.

"It's fine to not be okay Jamie. I'm here for you. "

Always.

"Yeah, you are here. Please don't leave. "

"Never. Jamie I... " Before I could finish what I was going to say she wrapped her arms around me in a giant hug. I hugged her back with all I had.

This girl will be the death of me.

"I'm sorry. I'm not usually this emotional. "

"Jamie it's fine. I get it. We all could use a friend once in a while. "

Did I just dig myself deeper into the friend zone. Mental face palm.

"Yeah you're right. I'm glad you're here. "
