*Jamie's Pov*

"Daisy?"

Mom?

I stared at the woman being led out by a nurse.

This wasn't the same woman with loving eyes and a carefree smile that I saw in pictures.

She was different, her eyes were dull and life less, her hair tangled and dry and her smile was week.

"Jamie? Is that her?" Zion whispered beside me, his grip on my hand tightening.

I just nodded at him but didn't take my eyes off her for a second.

The nurse guided her to the seat in front of us and then just left without a word.

An awkward silence filled the room as the three of us just stared at each other.

I had no idea what to say partly because I was shocked and partly because no one prepares you for this kind of weird situation.

What am I supposed to lead with "Hey mom, sorry I didn't visit sooner, I thought you were dead my whole life and just found out that wasn't true. Wanna go watch a movie together and catch up?" I thought.

"Dasiy?" She asked again.

"No, no my name is Jamie not Daisy." I said.

"Who's Daisy?" Zion asked.

"I'm sorry. My sister's name was Daisy and you look a lot like her. She never comes to visit." She said.

I haven't heard from my Aunt Daisy in years, and I wasn't aware that I looked like her.

"That's okay and I'm sorry to hear that." I said, not knowing what else to say.

"I had a daughter called Jamie. She was beautiful. So are you." She said, her eyes wondering away.

"What um...what happened to her?" I asked, trying not to cry.

"I don't know. Her father took her away from me and kept me here." She said, emotionless.

"Why would he do that?" I asked, scared of the answer.

"He said it was dangerous for me to be around her with my condition. He was afraid I would hurt her. Can you imagine the nonsense?" She said while chuckling.

"No, I can't." I said while looking down at my shoes.

"Who are you beautiful children anyway?" She asked looking back of forth between me and Zion.

"We're um, we're family friends."I said before Zion could answer.

Zion gave me a strange look before nodding in agreement.

I couldn't possibly tell her I was her daughter, who knows how she'll react.

"Family friends?" She asked.

"Yeah, my name's Zion and I'm the son of your best friend, Sandra." Zion said.

I looked at her to see her reaction, not sure how she would respond to that.

"You look just like her." She said smiling and looking at Zion from head to toe.

"Thanks." Zion said, smiling back.

"And you? Are you her daughter?" She asked referring to me.

"No, no I'm his girlfriend." I corrected, while Zion's smile grew wider.

"Well you two make a beautiful couple. I would love to see Sandra's grand babies." She said.
