12 hours later...

Terminal Island County Hospital

Sarah sat on a chair next to Bryan's bed while Drake stood near the door. She looked at Bryan; he had an oxygen mask on, faint cuts on his face and neck from the glass, and bandages around his chest from where the bullet pierced though.

"Drake, please come sit down," said Sarah as she grasped Bryan's left hand.

Drake crossed his arms and remained quiet at the door. There was a quiet knock at the door then Jacobi hobbled in.

"Jac...you're ok," gasped Sarah in shock,

Jacobi nodded and limped in further.

"According to the doc my height is what saved my life; the bullet hit a lot lower than it did on Bryan," replied Jacobi, "what'd the doc say about Bryan's condition?"

She sighed with relief,

"He said Bryan should be fine but he'll be unconscious for a bit,' she replied.

Seeley stood out in the hall; still in his flak jacket, he hadn't slept or gone home since it all happened. He was on the phone to Warner who was sounding very pissed.

"What do you mean Lindross escaped, find him. We need both behind bars!" yelled Warner.

Seeley held his cell at a distance from his ear.

"Cap I can't find him the whole squad is in hospital. Me and Hunt remain," replied Seeley.

Warner flipped out over the phone then hung up.

A doctor came out of Ben's room so Seeley walked up to him.

"How bad are they?" asked Seeley with worry.

The doctor sighed and then looked up at Seeley.

Sergeant Starsky sustained a very serious break in his leg which we had to pin back together. Sergeant Bourdon wasn't wearing his seatbelt when the crash occurred; he sustained a dislocated shoulder and 3 broken ribs," explained the doctor as he pointed down the hall to Ben's room, "their flak jackets prevented a lot of damage."

Seeley thanked the doctor and walked over to Ben's room.

In Ben's room, he sat dead quiet; Jane hadn't come to see him. He began thinking about the day they first met.

Ben was being rushed into the ER on a gurney; he was breathing really heavy and was grasping his left shoulder which looked very limp.

"25 year old male, clipped by a bus, dislocated left shoulder and a possible shattered scapula," explained one of the paramedics to the doctor.

The paramedic handed the doctor Ben's police credentials and Glock. The doctor looked at Ben's police ID,

"Ok Detective Starsky, I'm Doctor Dudley, do you remember what happened?" asked Dudley.

Ben winced a bit as pain shot through his arm.

"I...was on a foot pursuit the suspect cut in front of a bus... I thought I'd clear the bus," replied Ben.

The doc nodded then called over one of the nurses.

"Detective Starsky this is Jane Lewis, she will look after you," explained the doc as he handed over the file to Jane and walked off.

Jane smiled at Ben,

"Ok Detective, lets get that shoulder x-rayed," said Jane.

Ben smiled Back,
