Ben and Wolf's pagers went off at early hours of the morning requesting them at the FBI field office; what for, they didn't know. When they got to the building it was swarming with emergency personal and the press; Ben and Wolf squeezed their way though the crowd till they got to the yellow tape. Seeley was already there so they walked up to him to see what he knew.
"Seal, what happened?" asked Wolf with concern,
Seeley looked at them then they all looked at a group of Paramedics coming out of the building with a gurney; on the gurney was Nathan.
"Shit, Nathan what happened?" asked Ben as he ran up to Nathan.
A Paramedic lightly pushed him back,
"Sir, please step back," instructed the Paramedic.
Ben showed the Paramedic his credentials,
"LAPD, what happened?" asked Ben.
The Paramedic pointed to the FBI Deputy Director; Nathan's boss.
"Ask him," replied the Paramedic.
They ran up to the Director,
"Sir what happened to Nathan?" asked Ben.
"Who are you three?" asked the Director then he soon realized, "Oh yeah you're the cops from that squad."
Seeley nodded,
"Yes Sir, I'm Lieutenant Seeley Adams, and this is Sergeants Ben Starsky and Wolf Bourdon," explained Seeley.
"FBI Deputy Director Andrew Michaels," replied the Director, "I'll get you boys to come with me."
They followed the Director into the building and walked into the briefing room on the fifth floor. Director Andrew closed the door and looked at them,
"Boys this is bad; Nathan's partner Mark Cooper came in this morning found four guards dead and Nathan badly hurt in the tea room," explained Andrew.
"How bad are his injuries?" asked Wolf.
"His partner was too shocked to say but by the looks of it, he has serious head injuries and he was unconscious when the Paramedics arrived," explained Andrew, "Nathan tells me you guys are the best at what you do. I'll take you to the tea room so you can work out who did this."
They walked out of the briefing room and down the hall to the tea room.
Ben, Seeley and Wolf stood at the door in shock, their was blood everywhere,
"I hate to ask but how the fuck is Nate still alive?" asked Ben in shock as he tip toed in between the pools of blood to where Nathan was found.
Wolf pointed to an object by Ben's right foot,
"I'd say our killer expected a different outcome... he left a present," replied Wolf.
Ben grabbed some latex gloves out of a box on the bench and put them on, he then picked up the object, it was the Chainsaw Killer's signature; the chainsaw key chain. Ben looked at the blood spatter painted across the walls.
"I'm no blood tech but I'd say that the shape of the spatter says that he tried to kill Nate with a chainsaw," explained Ben as he pointed to one of the spatter marks.
Wolf flipped through his note book,
"Ugh....I reckon I worked out what the women at all the crime scenes were killed with... they were hacked up with a chainsaw," added Wolf as he grimaced a bit.
"I'm gonna' take a stab in the dark and say that not all this blood is Nate's, I think that the only reason he's alive is that he remembered about the fact that the dog bit the killer. If Nate used that to his advantage it may be what saved his life," explained Ben as he continued to tip toe around the tea room.
