➡Zayn's POV:

Me, Harry, and Liam all get into the car. "We're going to go shopping! We're going to go shopping!" I chant.

Lily cracks a smile and I pout at her. "Not good enough! C'mon I know you can laugh!" I say. She grins and tries to hide it. "Vas happening?!" I shout and she bursts into giggles.

"There we go," Harry applauds.

Lily unbuckles and sits on my lap. She scoots her tiny butt around and gets satisfied. "Comfy?" I ask sarcastically.

She nods and slumps in my arms. Her eyes start to drift closed and I wrap my arms protectively around her.

"Go to sleep, Lily," I whisper. She smiles and drifts off. I follow a few minutes after.

"Mate, we're here," Liam says. I wake up and shake Lily gently.

"Lily, we're going to go shopping now," I whisper.

She murmurs something and snuggles closer to me. I tickle her gently and her eyes shoot open. She starts to laugh as I continue to attack her, and her giggles send everyone into a good mood.

"I'm up!" She shrieks and I stop. Lily regains her breath and I get out of the car. She scoots to the edge of the seat and looks down. To her, the ground must be so far away. I laugh and she looks at me, heat rushing to her face.

Tears are about to splash on her perfect cheeks and I rush to fix my mistake. "Lily, I wasn't laughing to be mean! It's just that your so adorable and cute when you do that."

Her tears disappear and I lift her out of the car. She wraps her legs around my stomach, being short and small, and rests her head on my shoulder. We walk into the mall with Harry and Liam behind us.

Surprisingly, no one is here, despite it being a Saturday at 2:30 PM. I smile. "No paps or anything!" I cheer.

Liam and Harry grin in happiness too. We rush around the mall, going to The Children's Place first. I grab way more clothing than I can count. Dresses, skirts, jean shorts, sport shorts, sport t-shirts, football jerseys, jeans; skinny, tight, colored, and boot cut, jackets, sweatshirts, sweaters; thin and thick; warm and fuzzy, regular long sleeve shirts, nice short sleeve shirts, nice long sleeve shirts, leggings, pajama tops and bottoms, tank tops, bathing suits, underwear, socks, etc. I just hold all of the stuff up to Lily and judge.

The boys also grab a ton of clothes and we pay, running to some shoe store. We get Lily sized then pick out some Uggs, Converses, Toms, Vans, and a few pairs of trainers. I smile at a shocked Lily.

"You guys shouldn't spend this much money on me!" She says. She takes some expensive shoes out of the cart and Harry replaces them with a more expensive pair. When she comes back, she looks angrily at us. "I don't deserve it!" She shouts.

Harry kneels down. "Lily, you do. You deserve all of this and more. Which is why we are going to keep buying stuff for you."

Lily pouts and turns to me. "Zaynie, please stop wasting your money on me. I'm a piece of shoot and I don't deserve this."

I don't know whether to cry or laugh. She mispronounced the phrase, good thing she did though because Liam would have been mad, but Lily is not a piece of, you know. I crouch down to her level and look into her eyes. "Lily, you deserve everything we're doing," I tell her.

She hugs me tightly and I pick her up. "Let's go get some more stuff and things to decorate your room and grab that stuffed animal you wanted," I murmur in her ear.

Lily leans back and smiles at me. "You remembered!" She exclaims happily.

"Yup!" I say, popping my p. We walk to a store that's filled with stuffed animals. There's an aisle dedicated to just penguins. I carry Lily down the aisle, searching hard for an orange one.

"Found it!" Liam shouts and runs up to us holding a penguin that's as big as Lily. It's a neon orange with a navy blue bow around its neck. The eyes were big and brown like Lily's.

Once she sees the animal, her face brightens. Her eyes shine but she won't take it. I frown in confusion.

"Lily, you're allowed to have it," Harry says, walking from another aisle to us.

She looks at all of us. "Are you sure?" She asks hesitantly.

"Of course," Liam says, giving her the ginormous penguin. She takes it and squeezes it tightly.

"Thank you," she mumbles.

Tears fall onto her face and I ask, "Why are you crying?"

"Because you lads are too nice and I don't want it to end," she explains.

"Aww, why would it end?" Harry coos.

She shrugs. "Everyone else hurt me. It's your turn."

"Lily we will never ever ever ever think of hurting you," Liam says forcefully.

Lily smiles and hugs her penguin. "I love you. You're the best." She tells us. My heart melts and all three of us repeat her.

After we purchase the penguin, we go get more clothing, and pick out paint for her bedroom. She picks a bright orange and we get navy blue dressers and furniture. She chooses a blue and orange patterned carpet and we pay for everything. Next, we grab Antarctica blankets and bedspread. It's supposed to be where her penguin lives. We buy all that and, with all our bags, take everything to the car.

Once we're all settled, I place Lily on my lap. "What are you going to name him?" I ask, pointing to the penguin.

"What's the date today?" She asks randomly.

"Uh, August 12," Liam says.

"So you adopted me August 11?" She questions.

I nod and she continues. "So his name will be August because that's the month you adopted me," she declares. I smile as she adds,"And his middle name is 11."

"Lily, you know that's a-" Liam is cut off by Harry shushing him.

"She's six! Let her name it that!" He hisses.

Lily looks so confused so I distract her. "Is it a boy or girl?"

"A boy, silly goose!" Lily giggles. "What girl is named August?"

"Lily, that's mean. What if there is a girl named August?" Liam admonishes.

Lily bursts into tears. "I'm sorry," she sobs. Her breathing is getting irregular and I take a moment to realize what's happening.

"Harry give me her inhaler!" I demand. He turns around from the passenger seat and hands it to me. I shake it, put it in her mouth, and push. Lily breathes in and holds her breath. At thirty seconds, she lets it go.

Lily starts to cry again. "Thank you," she cries into my chest. I feel my shirt get wet from her tears and I push her hair back.

"It's okay Lily. Shhh. Go to sleep. You woke up early and went to bed late. I think your tired," I tell her while rubbing circles on her back. She sniffs and after a bit, her breathing becomes even.

"I am so sorry," Liam apologizes.

"It's okay, mate. Just keep your eyes on the road," Harry says with a small smile.

Liam looks gratefully at him and smiles back. He turns back to the road and drives back the our house.
