➡Zayn's POV:

Lily was so cold. She was shaking and crying but her body temperature froze the tears on her face. Her fingers were blue and swollen.

"It hurts Daddy!" She wails in pain. My heart breaks and I take her from Liam.

"Shhh, munchkin. Everything will be okay," I say with my voice full if false hope. Little white lies never killed anyone.

"I don't like it!" Lily screams. Liam motions for her but her next comment makes me stop cold. "It feels like my old daddy is burning me!"

I bite my lip to keep my anger in check. I force her into Niall's arms and stare out the window furiously. My hands ball into fists and I bite my lip harder.

How could someone be so mean to a child who's not even ten?!

I let out a shaky breath and climb out of the car since we are home. Louis and Niall rush upstairs and I immediately hear water running. Harry, Liam, and I run upstairs, too. Liam and Harry help Niall undress a sobbing Lily and I go grab her a pair of fuzzy pajamas.

Thank god Lily doesn't know what happens when your body temperature changes quickly.

I return to the bathroom as Louis slowly lowers Lily with a pained expression on his face. I feel his misery.

As soon as Lily touches the water she shrieks, "D-daddy! S-stop! Y-you're h-hurting me!"

Lou chokes and bursts out crying. "Baby girl I'm so sorry. But you won't get better if we don't do this," he explains through his tears.

"You're just l-like m-my old d-daddy!" Lily screams harshly at Louis.

He bites his lip and I can see how hard he just took that. "Lily, please stop," I tell her.

"You all are!" Lily yells. "All of you just waited for your chance to hurt me! I knew it! I KNEW IT!"

Niall and Harry run out of the room crying and Louis leans against the cabinets and bawls his eyes out. Liam looks shocked and what I do next surprises all of us.

Ooh! CLIFFHANGER! I seriously debated whether to end it here. But you guys were lucky!

I hug her. She just hangs limply in my arms, tired from her outburst. "Munchkin, I will never hurt you. Promise," I murmur. I get her out of the tub, dry her off, brush her hair, and slip on her pjs. I send the two lads downstairs and tell them to send everyone to bed. They just go with blank looks and tear stains on their faces.

I get in bed and lay Lily on top of me. She lays her head on mine and whispers, "I'm so sorry, Zaynie. I feel really bad."

"How can you fix it?" I ask in a parenting way.

"By telling the lads sorry tomorrow and that I said those mean things because I was scared of being left alone when I was pain because you wouldn't help but I understand now that you couldn't do anything about it," she blurts quickly.

I still catch it and it brings tears to my eyes. "I would have taken away the pain. I wish I could've. I know we all wanted to. But, just remember, we will never leave you," I tell her firmly.

"I love you Zayn," she mumbles.

"Love you too," I say.

I shift positions and she asks,"Where are you going?"

I chuckle. "Nowhere, Lily." A few minutes later, I move again and she repeats the question. "Lily, go to sleep. I promise I won't go anywhere," I swear with a sigh.

She nods and hugs me tighter. "Night night."

"Goodnight, Lily."

Really short chapter sorry! I wanted to end the day because it dragged on forever!
