Chapter One

Rose's POV

I woke up around noon on Thursday morning to the bright Florida sun shining it's way through my curtains. I checked my phone to find a message from the previous night, which I had fallen asleep to early to receive it. It was from my best friend, Lacey. It read, "I'll be over for dinner later tonight, then I'll just sleep over so we can head out early Friday morning, can't wait!"

We were planning on having a girls weekend, since we don't have much time doing that anymore. We've spent almost everyday together for the last twelve years, but now that we're seventeen and both have summer jobs, we don't spend as much time together. We were both extremely excited to go 'away' for the weekend. Magcon was coming to town, and the two of us couldn't pass up the opportunity to go.

I put down my phone and headed downstairs to find my mother eating lunch, along with my younger brother playing with his food.

"I like your hair, Rosey. You look like a lion," said my younger brother, Eric.

I wasn't sure what I looked like, but by the sound of it, my bed head was pretty bad.

"Rose, hun, you better eat and get ready, you have to go to work at one-thirty," my mom reminded me. I shot her a look that said 'I don't want to go, can't I just stay home and sleep?'

"Only a few more hours and you'll be back home. Life-guarding can't be that hard, you're only saving peoples' lives." The sarcastic tone in her voice made me laugh and I went back upstairs to get ready.

Once I showered, put my uniform on, and ate breakfast it was time to leave for work. Lifeguarding wasn't a hard job at all and I got to sit around and look at cute boys all day. During the work day I usually sent pictures of guys that stuck out to Lacey.

I got home at five and found Lacey sitting on my couch. This wasn't unusual. Sometimes she comes over to hangout with my mom rather than me.

"Hey, how was work?" Lacey asked.

"Not bad, kinda b-" she cut me off by saying, "Boring I know. Now who's excited to meet the loves of our lives this weekend?!"

I raised my hand as I was pulled into the kitchen by the smell of my mom's cooking.

Eventually, we all sat down and ate an incredible meal as always when my mother cooks. After dinner, Lacey and I went upstairs to my room so I could pack for this weekend. We decided to stay at the hotel, even though it was a thirty minute drive from my house. It amazes me that magcon is here, in little Sarasota, Florida. What brings them here, I have no idea.

Time flew by after talking about this upcoming weekend. Both of us were so excited, not only to go to magcon and meet everyone, but to spend some quality time together. We eventually dozed off after chatting about who we're most excited to see.
