Before we start this pov will not be in melody's pov I guess it's in third person so enjoy

"Melody? Oh Melody!" The little girl chimed.. "Wake up wake up!"

Melody and Jane had been friends ever since she had moved here.. Her mother was a servant in the castle, and Jane would always drop by. Jane was thirteen while Melody was only twelve..

"Jane go away.." Melody said whilst throwing a pillow at her friend.. "It's too early.."

Jane immediately jumped on the bed and attacked Melody with pillows.. The girls always did this. It was like a morning routine.. It wasn't like a princess to be friends with a mere servant, but that's what made them so unique.. You would rarely see them apart from each other. They always roamed the halls and hung out in the gardens..

"Alright girls come on." Melody's mother said walking into the room.. Snow was never rude, and even when she thought she was being it she always apologized. She was like Jane's second mom, she was always there for her..

"Good morning mother!" Melody said.. She quickly hurried out of bed and threw on a robe. Her mother had always made her like this. Her father not so much. Melody knew she would be scolded at any moment if she didn't do what her mother said..

"I hear someone special is visiting the Kingdom today!" She said running over and grabbing Jane's hand.. "Isn't that so mother?"

Her mother nodded and motioned for them to come out the door.. The castle smelled of fresh flowers from the garden. It was Melody and Jane's favorite day of the year, The first day of spring..

The last of the snow had melted from the whole countryside.. Poppies, dandelions, and sunflowers were everywhere.. Melody didn't have a proper crown, so she made her one out of flowers each year..

"Oh Jane this is wonderful!" She said as they ran through the halls.. "We have a very special guest coming, and it's the first day of spring!"

Both girls laughed.. They had spent the day making crowns and playing fairies in the garden.. The two were inseparable.. They watched the sun set in their favorite tree before starting to go inside..

Jane turned her head towards the castle gates.. "Do you hear that?" She said stepping closer to the gates.. Melody shook her head.. "It sounds beautiful! It's music!"

Before Jane ran off Melody grabbed her hand.. "You can't leave! Especially not at night!" Melody gripped her tighter.. "There's no telling what kind of thieves are lurking around! You could be imprisoned!"

Jane merely laughed and ran to the gates.. "Are you coming or not?"

Melody huffed and finally went after her friend.. "Jane this isn't a good id-" she stopped when she saw at least half of the village's children walking towards a fire.. She looked and saw Jane mesmerized by whatever it was.. "Jane let's go back!" She said grabbing the girls shoulder, but she only continued to walk..

Melody followed her to the fire.. Boys danced around it with masks upon their faces.. "I'm glad all of you came to join us!" One of the boys said.. He was wearing a red cloak with his face hid.. "Tonight you will join us to a land where you will be free to do as you please!"

Melody backed away.. She was about to run when she heard a stick crack. She looked up to see the boy in front of her.. "Going somewhere, Princess?" He said lifting up her chin.. "Princesses turn into queens don't they?"

Her eyes widened as they boy merely laughed.. "Do you want to join me?" Melody was about to answer when she was cut off..

"Leave my daughter alone, piper!" She turned her head and saw her father standing there.. "Come, Melody! He's lying to you.."

She looked to her father and grabbed hold to his extended hand.. "Leave the children alone.. Let them return to their families.." He authorized.. The piper laughed.. "These children don't have families! If they do, they don't love them! They are unloved! They are lost!"

"Burn the place down.." Were her fathers final words to him.. Arrows with fire on them came blazing out of nowhere hitting every tree, and every tent set up.. The children began to cry as the hay surrounding them was on fire..

"You will pay for this!" The piper yelled as her dad carried her away.. But Melody had the feeling he wasn't talking to her dad, but to her..

She heard a familiar screaming coming from beside him.. Her eyes scanned and saw Jane with a slash across her face.. Melody gripped her fathers shirt..

"No daddy! No wait! We have to get Jane!" She yelled.. "It's no use, he won't give her up! He'll just use her against us!" Her father yelled.. The girl screamed for Jane to run, but she could no longer her see her.. The whole place was engulfed by red flames..

Charming made his way to the gates and ordered them to be shut.. "Keep them shut! Only allow the children in at morning! The piper could be one of them.." He dropped his daughter by the gate as he went to hug his wife, who was running towards them..

Melody stared at the gate, and began to cry.. All she could do was cry..

Melody was found the next morning sleeping in the garden. She had snuck out her window that night. Jane was supposed to stay with her that night, so she felt like a piece of Jane was with her in the garden. Her father had scooped Melody up in his arms and carried her to the front of the castle.

In front of the steps the children were being checked, mostly because the piper was still lurking about. They had banged on the gates all night. They were trying to escape him.

This was also the day that the King declared that the town be shut away, and will only open its gates for trading purposes. Melody's heart was broken.

After a few months her parents had practically sewed Into her head that Jane nor many of her other friends would ever return. Of course, Melody was never given an explanation. After all, she was only a child..

Little memoirs of Jane were placed across Melody's room.. The little girl had given Jane's mother her favorite flowers from the garden.. They were yellow with orange tips. They came up for a special name for them: Tiger Lillies. Melody remembered Jane's mother leave the castle the following year, she was going far away from a place where her daughters memories haunt her.

You couldn't imagine how upset Mel was when Jane wasn't at her twelfth birthday party.. This was also the day the Evil Queen came. Jane always loved adventures, and she knew in the back of her mind she could see Jane being brave and triumphant by grabbing a sword and fighting the queen to the death..

Right now as she thought of Jane the only thing that could pop into her head was a conversation they had when they first met.

"Jane?" The little girl said as she knitted a pair of gloves in her favorite tree.. Jane quickly turned around from picking Tiger Lillies.

"Yes, Melody?" She replied as she plucked away the tiny flowers..

"Will we be friends for forever?" Melody said..

"Of course silly!" Jane said and giggled.. She turned to Melody and gave her a serious look.. "But you know, forever is an awfully long time.."
