Sophia's POV
As soon as I drove through the gate, I handed my keys to, Charles the butler and walked in. Mom and Dad were nowhere to be seen and Dean was still outside with Charles, so I quickly snuck in Dean's room and looked for the ring box.
I looked through his drawers, his pen stand, his bathroom cabinets, even his wardrobe but couldn't find it. Any minute now Dean could come in and I didn't even have a reasonable explanation if he does.
Think Sophia. Where could he keep it?
My eyes scanned the whole room carefully until it fell on something stupid.
His container of protein powder. I opened the lid and cleared out the powder until I saw a small red box.
Bingo!
"I'm sorry, bro. Guess you'll just have to try it harder next time." I said looking at the shimmering diamond ring.
I quickly took it out and replaced it with another ring. You might think won't he notice it if he checks whether everything is in place for the final time. Well, let's just say he trusts his work too much to give a last glance. Stupid, I know.
Suddenly I heard footsteps outside the room.
"Yeah, I guess that will....." Dean spoke and heard his footsteps going away. Without wasting time I put the box inside the container and back to its place.
Now the part of sneaking out is tricky considering Dean might show up any minute, Charles always roam in the hallway, Lena and other maids have to pass through his hallway for clean up. So I have to be careful with my escape.
I poked my head out to se if anyone was in sight. The hallway was clear when I saw Charles walking to the living room.
Okay let's do this.
One step, two steps, three.... Going on...
Just when I reached the stairs, I turned to look if anyone caught my movement.
No. Clear.
Alright shoot!
And I ran upstairs to my room. I took deep breaths and pulled out my iPhone to call the manager.
"Is everything in place? " I asked without waiting for the greeting.
"Yes ma'am. The posters, the decoration, the lightings... Everything is in place." I heard him say.
"Good, they will be arriving. Your boss is getting ready now. So that leaves plenty of time for you to show me around."
"Sure ma'am. Just a second..." I switched on the FaceTime. My screen lit up with his face smiling at me. "Alright, give me a tour." I said.
