"Is this really necessary?" I asked Liz, as she was tying a blindfold on my head.
"Yes, it is." she chuckled, as she was squeezing my eyes even more with the black scarf. "What do you see? "
"Nothing." I groaned, being unable to open my eyes and check.
"Perfect!" she trilled and I felt her tiny hand taking mine and dragging me ahead. I stopped her.
"But..." I said, helplessly. "I don't think it's a good idea going out without letting grandma know."
"I called her on my way home and she's okay with it. She'll be back tomorrow, anyway."
"But..." I tried again, when Liz cut me off.
"Please, April! Don't tell me that you're scared."
Silence. I was, actually, pretty scared. A dress? Blindfold? Seriously, what was happening?
"Everything will be alright. Trust me, alright?" Liz told me, with a reassuring voice.
I sighed and nodded. She dragged me once again, and I followed her outside my house. I got in a vehicle that I recognised as her car and Liz put it in motion. She turned on the radio, and it was playing Last Friday Night, by Katy Perry. Funny. It was actually Friday. A summer holiday Friday, to be more exact.
I was so glad that I had finished my junior year! One more left to finish the high school. Probably Liz was luckier than me, as she had recently graduated school. So after all those years, that time had finally come; she was going to leave for college. And that meant that I wouldn't see her very much anymore. I could hardly accept that idea, as I didn't even know how she was going to manage by herself! Although she was older than me, I always needed to be the mature one, because she was so childish. But she was still an amazing, funny person and well, my best friend.
"Aren't we there yet?" I asked, still blinded.
"What, now you're impatient?" she giggled.
"Do you have any idea about the torture of having a scarf on your head, that doesn't let you see at all?" I complained.
"Cough, drama queen. " she acted, before bursting in fits of laughter.
And I just sighed and let her continue our journey.
About half an hour later, I noticed some people screaming outside the car. Girls? But they didn't seem to be scared or something, just... excited. I was getting more anxious as the car began to slow down, and the screaming was getting louder.
"We're heeere!" Liz exclaimed suddenly, as she was parking the car.
"Can I take the blindfold off now?" I asked, full of hope.
"Nope! Now, wait a second.'' she said, and I heard Liz getting down from the car. A few seconds later, the door next to me opened, and I felt an arm dragging me outside.
"Follow me!" she ordered. I felt like rolling my eyes, but the scarf wouldn't let me.
We walked for a while between the people that were screaming, when Liz stopped again and I heard a woman's cute voice.
"Can I see your tickets?" she asked.
Tickets?
"Of course. Here you are." Liz said.
"Thank you. Have fun!" the cute voice told us, and Liz started to walk again.
I heard some big doors opening, and more screaming came from inside. I could feel eyes staring at me, as the people were probably confused about the girl with a blindfold on her head.
Liz turned to the right, and I followed her. I could finally understand that everyone was shouting, synchronized or not, some words. Two words, to be exact. Oh...
My best friend finally stopped, while I was getting even more anxious.
"Right in time! Are you ready, April? " she shouted, and didn't let me protest. Liz took the scarf off my head and I was finally able to see something. And I froze.
And not that the idea we were in one of the biggest theaters in London, that was extraordinarily huge and now full of screaming people, shocked me. Neither did the fact that this was the theater where my mum used to play in as an actress. Or that I knew this place so well, because grandma used to bring me here very often during my childhood.
It was the posters. The boards, and pictures, and messages, the decorations and even the clothes some people were wearing.
A male voice came from the big stage, but I didn't pay attention to it, even though we were close to the front rows. I heard some of his words anyway, especially concert and the other two words, that the fans were still screaming.
And right when I thought that I would pass out, five tall boys appeared on the stage.
