Chapter 8
Flashback
Karylle's been in the mansion for a few days now and have met the triplets, their mom, and their sister, whom she bonded with right away. Earlier this morning, Anne went to the kitchen to have a chat with her new friend, mainly talking and laughing about last night.
While this was happening, Karylle noticed a triplet standing by the door and figured it was Vice due to his posture and hair. She didn't know what to make of it so she ignored the triplet as he watched them interact.
He later disappeared after talking to chef Lou about another cake, which he specifically wanted to be designed with books and children.
It was around 10 at night when Karylle finished her chores. And for someone who did a lot the entire day, she wasn't tired nor sleepy. Feeling like she haven't explored much, she decided to walk around the mansion and found herself going to places she haven't been. At the same time, she was adding up new names to the list of workers she's met as there are about 14 maids, 10 butlers, 4 drivers, 7 guards, 3 gardeners, and 1 cook, which must be so tiring for uncle Lou being the only chef.
She wandered along the second floor hallway and noticed the huge double doors slightly opened. She walked towards it and peeked inside. The first thing she noticed was the rows of bookshelves invading the room, then four tables in the middle and a balcony floor at the far right side.
Wow. This must be the infamous library uncle Lou has mentioned a couple times.
Walking in quietly, her eyes roamed the inside and was suddenly overwhelmed with the amount of books in front of her. It looked to have over a million books. At the same time though, she felt like she was in heaven, especially for a bookworm like her.
Karylle walked towards the closest shelf and read the index on the sides of the books. She took one out and read the blurb.
Then suddenly there was a sound. A shuffle of feet from the balcony floor. But who could it be.
Curious of who made the sound, Karylle took the spiral stairs up the floor to check if anyone was there, but was surprised to see more sets of bookshelves and a small sitting area near the wall. Her lips tugged slightly at the set up, imagining how it must be so comfortable and cozy to sit there. She went for a book randomly and sat on one of the bean bags for five minutes.
"Is it a good read?" She heard that familiar voice say a little while later but that voice also belonged to two other brothers.
Karylle looked up, wide eyes, and saw a triplet. She felt her heart race. Of all the people who could be in here, it had to be one of the triplets. She didn't peg any of them to be a reader, but then again, she doesn't know anything about them aside from the fact that they're rich.
"Uh - Yeah, it is." Karylle answered, suddenly embarrassed for going in here without permission. The triplet took a few steps closer and Karylle immediately knew which of the triplet was in front of her. The way his hair was styled and the way he stood gave it away. It was very different from his brothers.
The triplet nodded and sat on the farthest bean bag. Karylle focused her eyes back on the book, but her mind wondered somewhere else. Should she stay? Maybe Vice doesn't like that she's here. Or maybe he's alright with it since he's not saying anything.
She peeked over at the triplet and also found him looking.
Crap.
She quickly turned away and hoped he didn't notice. The triplet, however, didn't seem bothered that he was caught staring.
