It's 7 p.m. and I'm sitting on the wooden bench at the park. I just texted Grace to let her now that I'm already here but she didn't reply back.
I adjust my ponytail while I look around to see if there is any sight of the purple haired girl. I drop my hands on my lap. My cell phone rings and I take it out from my small shoulder bag. Grace is calling. I clear my through and slide my finger on the screen to answer the call.
"Hi"
"Hey, Ari! I just got off from the bus and I'm walking to the park. Where are you?" She asks and I have to ignore the fact that she called me Ari instead of calling me Arianna. Not even my parents call me like that, they just call me by my name or use "sweetie," but my ex best friend used to call me Ari.
"I'm here at the park, sitting on a bench, it's in front of Starbucks." I say looking at the people getting out of the store with their drinks.
"Got it. I'll be there in a second. See you!" And she hungs up.
I put the cell phone back in my bag and stand up just in case Grace can't see me.
I wave my hand when I see her purple head. She is wearing dark skinny jeans, I can see she is wearing a red jumper and the same black jacket she was wearing the day we met. She has a big smile and waves back before walking really fast where I'm standing.
"Hi!" She greets me with a hug which, yes, takes me by surprise.
I don't hug her back because I was taken aback and didn't know what to do. I don't get this kind of display of affection from anyone else besides my parents...so sad.
She lets go of me and gives me a smile.
"Hi, Grace. Good to see you again."
"It's a pleasure to see my saviour again!" She says while putting her hands up and looking towards the sky, as if I was an angel that came from up there. She giggles from her own silliness and I can't help but giggle a little bit with her. "It's really cold, right?" I nod. "Let's go and have a hot drink to warm us up." She says before her arm slides around mine, we are linking arms, she poins to Starbucks.
"Oh, yes!" I say looking at the store and we both cross the street with our arms linked and enter the store which smelled of sweet and coffee.
We met two hours earlier before originally planned cause she said she wanted to walk around and talk with me alone without her other friends. I was really glad she came up with that plan because I also wanted to talk and get to know her without interruption.
