We arrived at a cafe, and she gently swung the doors open. She walked me over to a table by a window, in one corner of the cafe. Then she sat down and gestured for me to do the same. I sat down across from her, and avoided eye-contact as much as I could.

“Sooooo…” The girl said. “My name's Madison. What's yours?” She finished.

When I didn't reply, she just stared at me intently and waited.

“I-it’s April…” I replied with a shaky voice.

“Well April, I think you could use a little cheering up!” Madison said with a big smile. She got up and walked towards the counter.

It took her a while to get back, but eventually she did. And with her, she carried a tray of cookies.

“This will surely help! Sweets always do.” She said with a cheery grin as she sat down again.

I hesitated. “What e-exactly is this for?”

“To cheer you up, silly.”she replied with a giggle. She looked up at me then grabbed a cookie off the tray. She gestured towards me with the cookie.

“Have some!”

I tried to hide the redness of my face, but I failed every time.

I couldn't help it. I smiled, and my face became a bright red. Madison took this as an opportunity to shove half the cookie in my mouth. Before I could do anything, I started to giggle too.

The pain eased in my stomach. I hadn't felt this happy in a while. She giggled with me for a few moments. She looked at me with a wide grin.

“Feel better now?”

“Mhm.” I mumbled.

“Good.” She said, as she started to get up. “I wanna go for a little walk. Would you like to tag along?”
“Sure.” I replied simply.

. . . . . . . . .

I told myself to stop thinking like that. I just met her. I can't fall in love so quickly.
But she's so perfect…
No. I met her only today. She probably doesn't even like girls. Just act normal. Be cool.
What am I saying? You don't have to be cool around her. Just be yourself. She'll like you better that way.
Stop trying to impress her. Just keep walking.
