POV - Madison
He looked at me with an evil, yet terrified glare. I saw the hatred burning in his eyes. But I knew he was too scared to mess with me again. Too scared of what would happen to him if he did.
We waited for the bus in an awkward silence. When the bus arrived, we got assigned seats. And, lucky me, I sat next to the kid at my bus stop. The bus was about half full, and there were only a few more stops. He grunted and growled at me a few times, but otherwise, he was silent the entire ride to school.

We finally got to school, and kids poured out of the buses. I spotted April by a front door. I walked towards her, and grabbed her hand.
She looked startled for a minute, because she probably didn't see me. But after a moment, her hand relaxed into mine.
"So. You just wanna hang out at lunch?" I said loudly, trying to be heard over the hundreds of other people speaking.
"Yeah. Sounds awesome!" She yelled back. She tightened her grip on my hand, probably as a gesture of trying not to lose me in the crowd, and we walked together to my first class. She dropped me off there, and hugged me goodbye.
"See you soon." She said. And she walked off to her class. See you soon... I thought as I watched her walk away.

POV - April
It was about 3rd hour when my phone buzzed. I checked it under my desk silently, and read the text from my foster mom. It said "You better not come home tonight. If you do, it will be SO much worse than yesterday. I feel like I get no fucking respect in this house. You treat me like I'm garbage, let's see how you'll feel. I'm locking the doors today. If you find a way in I'll be surprised. I may just come get you from school to beat your ass." Let's just say, I nearly started bawling in the middle of class.
I raised my hand.
"Miss Jamie? May I use the restroom?" I waited for a response. She gave me a overly large sigh, and waved her hand at the door. Telling me I could go.
I left the room, shut the door behind me, and started to sob. I could barely see where I was going as I walked down the long hall, towards the girls bathroom. I opened the door to find several popular girls standing in front of the mirror, and doing their makeup. I quickly pulled my hood over my head once more, and rushed to the very last stall. I heard giggles from outside the door, and I tried to sob silently.
