"So," Madison said questioningly. "Have any family?"
'Touchy subject. Struck a nerve there buddy.' I thought to myself. "Not anyone worth mentioning." I giggled. She stopped walking and looked over at me, a concerned look in her eyes. I stopped walking too and turned to her. "Don't worry about it." I said.
And we kept walking.
. . . . . . . . .
We reached the lake. Thankfully this wasn't the spot where I threw up.
Before us was a beautiful view of the lake, and a small dock that reached into the water. On each side of the large lake were plants and trees of all kinds. And the sound of crickets and frogs nearby notified that the day was almost ending.
"What school do you go to?" I asked her as we sat at the end of the dock, with our feet in the water.
"Marybelle's. Marybelle's high." She replied.
"Hmm. I go there too."
"Oh, I'm new. You've probably never seen me there because I like to stay away from drama. And that appears to be everywhere, so it takes a lot to avoid it."
"Me too. That's why most students don't know I even exist." We giggled about that together.
"And being "gay" doesn't change anyone's opinion to a better view very well, does it?" she said.
And it hit me like a bullet. The word "gay". A weird word when it's all by itself, but it wouldn't stop going through my head. Just the same word. Over. And over. And over, again.
"W-what... Was that? I don't know if I h-heard you r-right."
"O-oh... Umm... This is kinda awkward, isn't it? I should probably get back now..." she started to stand up.
"W-wait! I-I didn't mean it in a bad way. I just..." And I couldn't find the words.
But she stopped. She sat back down.
"So, uh... I'm a lesbian... As you c-could probably already tell, from w-what I said before." she said, with a shaky voice. "Wow. I-It sounds so much weirder out loud." she giggled nervously.
I smiled at her.
"And here I was, thinking you weren't interested in girls." I giggled a little bit, and saw that she looked slightly reassured. A small smile appeared on her face, which was now turning bright pink. "So..." I said.
The stars were starting to appear in the sky, along with their friend, the moon. The sun was still setting, which caused the sky to fade from a bright orange-yellow to a blue-violet color. I looked up, leaned back on my hands, and dipped my feet in the water.
"Have you had your first kiss?"

Romance"It'll be fun. I promise." She held out her pinkie to make a swear. With a shaky hand, I swore on her words. And with that, we were off again.
