Part 12~Hideaway

BRADS POV:
I knocked on the door of my house and no one was answering, I could see movement coming from the window but I couldn't make out who it was
B:Anyone in?
I banged on the door harder and finally my dad opened it slowly, he looked tired and his eyes were all red and puffy
B:Dad have you been crying?
D:No son it's fine, don't worry
B:But I will worry
I walked through the door and shut it slowly behind me
B:Where's Millie(kates mum)
I looked around to see an empty house

D:She left a few minutes ago
B:Dad what happened?
I looked up at him as he covered his face
D:Nothing brad its fine
B:Tell me
I raised my voice slightly as I noticed him roll his eyes
D:It's your mum, she's coming home
I widened my eyes and smiled at the thought of seeing my mum again, I haven't seen her in months since she split with my dad and I missed her

B:So...? That's amazing! I thought you left things as friends?
D:We did but Millie found out and she got the wrong idea, she started screaming and crying and I couldn't take it so I told her to leave
B:But, dad you love her, right?
D:I don't know brad, I just, don't know
I swallowed hardly

B:So what about mum?, do you miss her?
He nodded quickly
D:More than anything
I knew this would happen, my parents were always close and they only had one fight which ended everything, it was silly really especially when we all knew they were still crazy about each other

B:So what happens now? Are we leaving?
He didn't say anything
B:Cause, I can't leave kate dad, not now
He looked concerned as he sat up straighter
D:What's happened? Is she ok?
B:Yeah it's just...
I hesitated slowly as I thought about how to put this into words
B:I really like her, dad
He looked up at me slightly

D:I know brad and it's lovely seeing you so close, it's like you've been siblings your whole life
B:But, dad that's the thing...
I swallowed slowly
B:I really, really like her

I could see his eyes widen as he rested his palm on the side of his chin
D:Well, I didn't see that coming
B:I know, it's a lot and it's weird but, she's different and I have never felt this way about anyone
He smiled slightly and put his hand on my shoulder
B:I'm so proud of you brad, I really am
I smiled and hugged him quickly
B:Thanks dad

KATIES POV:
As we sat down in the seats of a taxi I looked at my phone to see 10 missed calls from my mum, and 5 from brad

I called brad first considering he was easier to talk too, and I missed his voice

On the phone to brad*
K:Hey
B:Hey, where you been I've been trying to get hold of you for hours?
K:Oh I've been at the pier, I'm on my way home now is everything ok?
He hesitated slightly
K:Brad?
B:Things, aren't great
I sighed loudly
B:Your mum and my dad had an argument, your mum has left and I think my dad is still in love with my mum
K:Okay, hang on that's a lot to take in
I breathed out heavily
B:I know I'm sorry
K:Ok, so have you spoke to Derek or?
B:Yeah I spoke to him just now
K:And... how did it go?
B:Alright
I could tell by the tone of his voice that he was hiding something from me
K:What have you done?
B:Nothing
I smiled slightly
K:Brad I can tell
He hesitated
B:I may or may not have told dad about us
I sighed loudly and placed my hand over my forehead
B:I said I may not have
K:Brad why?
B:Because he was talking about leaving and I had to have a reason to stay, kate I was under pressure
K:I know... I'm sorry
B:It's ok, i just want you home, how close are you?
K:About half an hour away... i miss you
I could almost feel his smile as he breathed out heavily
B:I miss you more
I looked over at Leah and cat as they signalled me to end the call
K:Okay well I've got to go, I love you
B:I love you too

I hung up slowly and turned towards the others as cat showed me her phone
K:What is it?
C:Kate Blake has texted me 10 times asking why you haven't replied to his messages, what should I say
I breathed in heavily
K:I don't know uh just...
L:tell him to go away
I laughed as Leah rested her head on my shoulder
L:You know what we need?
K:What?
We both looked towards her and smiled
L:A holiday, all of us
I tilted my head to the side thinking about how much I needed to get away from home right now
C:That's actually a really good idea
I smiled a she shrugged her shoulders slightly
L:Invite the boys as well, the more of us the better
