Jackson woke as the dawn light hit the entrance of the den. He slowly got to his paws, still feeling rather sleepy. He took one deep breath and stepped out to the clearing, then he sat down to look at the orange sky, he felt calm and happy of being in a Clan but didn't think he'd ever adjust to Clan life, being used to not having strict rules and all. As he watched the sunrise he noticed a group of cats coming of one of the dens. He kinda ignored them, not caring at all about their problems.
"Boo!" Screamed a voiced beside Jackson.
He jumped in surprise, he landed quietly and then looked at who had scared him. "Silverleaf! You startled me." He said angrily.
Silverleaf giggled amusingly. She had a smile on her face that was a bit awkward, nonetheless, Jackson showed a small smile back her. She's kinda cute... He admitted under his breath.
"What?" She asked.
"Uh, nothing. What do you want?"
"I wanted to ask you... are you, staying in EarthClan?" Her voice felt so innocent and it was so young.
"Ha!" Jackson chuckled, he kept it at a low volume to not wake any other cats around him. "Of course not, this is not my place, my home is the grasslands- where rules are a myth- it's pretty fun out there."
It was easy to see, Silverleaf looked kinda disappointed, she a small frown on her face. It quickly vanished as she spoke one last time, "Oh, well, I'm glad to hear you're happy with your life." Then she padded off swiftly, towards the direction a group of cats had gone.
Jackson felt puzzled, but either way, he knew one thing was sure. He had to stay, Maybe I can learn more about EarthClan and the Clans in general. And eventually about Silverleaf as well... He said thoughtfully under his breath.
He quickly entered the elder's den, completely ignoring Wolfcoat and the other elders as they watched him. He leaped beside Comet, though she was still sleeping, he knew waking her up would cause her to get cranky but he needed to talk now or never. He poked her flank with his front right paw, but before he even touched her she whispered angrily.
"What do you want?"
"We need to talk. It's important."
"Not now, I'm really tired. Okay?" Her voice got lower and lower every time she said a word.
"Can we stay in EarthClan for one more night?" He sighed.
Comet's half-opened eyes opened up in a flash, she got up to her paws, she looked pissed. They stared at each other silently, waiting for either to speak.
"Why?" She hissed quietly.
"You know I've always been interested in knowing about Clan life. It'd be a great chance to learn, at least a few things."
"In other words, you want to join EarthClan?!"
"No, no, no, no! Don't get me wrong! I love the grasslands more than anything! I wouldn't resist Clan life even if I tried." He insisted.
Jackson stared at his best friend, she unsheathed her claws and almost revealed her fangs. "Wait, this is all because of Silverleaf isn't it?"
He hesitated, and his fur went on end. "NO! It isn't, I swear!"
"You're a liar!"
"No I'm not!!"
"Don't go playing games with me! I may be younger but I'm much wiser!"
