Lelani's POV

I laid in my bed the day after the whole fling-heel-at-Reese thing, and i felt sick to my fucking stomach. My head was hurting and my stomach felt like it was on fire. I hated the time of the month more than anything.

"Ughhhh," I groaned and clutched my tummy. It was just a regular Saturday morning in chicago. The birds were chirping, the sirens were blaring and the gunshots were ra-tat-tat-tating.

"Lee, baby.. you up?" I turned my head from the window to look at my mama walking in with a glass of OJ and a pill. She sat on the edge of the bed and handed it to me while checking my forehead and my neck to see if i had a fever.

"Thanks ma," I said while taking the tylenol and sipping the OJ. She nodded and looked at me. I groaned. I knew she was finna cuss my ass out about yesterday.

"So, Lester told me what happened." She said and i sat up a little. "But mama you know i don't lik-" I tried speaking and she held up her hand. "I don't wanna hear it Lelani. You see how damn hard i have to work to put food in your belly and put clothes on yo backs and keep this roof over our head! The least you can do is while i'm at work you don't give no trouble- for god sakes you're 19!" She said and i frowned.

"I'm tired of you talkin back to Lester like you think you grown! You don't pay no bills in here! You don't cook, clean you don't wash you don't do shit!" She said and i looked at her like was this woman serious? "What you mean i don't cook mama just last week i made dinner for us!" I said looking at her like she was crazy. She shook her head and scoffed. "Chef Boyardee ain't dinner! All you did was open a tin of ravioli and slam that shit in the microwave! You almost burnt the damn house down!" She yelled while standing up from the bed. I blinked and looked at her. "What you mean that's not dinner?! It's fye!" I said and she shook her head walking towards the door.

"I've had it up to here Lelani Elizabeth-" She said while holding her hand up to her head. "You need to get the hell up outta my house that's what you need to do. Either that or get a damn JOB!" She said and slammed my bedroom door shut behind her. I jumped as she shut it and sat on my bed looking clueless for a second.

"..But i have a job," I said while looking at the edge of my bed at all the hair i had wrapped up in plastic. I sold hair online for a living, i thought she knew that. I was in the process of having my own website in just a few days, i was naming it Lee's hair boutique. People was already posting their reviews on YouTube and Insta about how much they loved my hair. The quality was bomb. I sighed and grabbed my iPhone, opening up Insta and scrolling through. I wasn't that big YET- I only had 45K which to alot of people was a lot. But there was more competition out there and i needed to be the best. I already had a little over 20K saved up in the bank from doing all this hair business and i only started about 3 months ago. Ma was in the living room still cussing and complaining about me to my step dad and i rolled my eyes. I needed to get out this fucking house. Period or not, i can't stay here. I slowly got up from the bed and made my way into the bathroom, turning on the shower and waiting it to warm as i got all the things i needed. I got my beats pill and hooked it up to my phone, playing some Lil Uzi as i hopped in the shower.

"She said baby i am not afraid to-DIE! All my friends are dead, push me to the edge!" I sang loud as fuck in the shower while scrubbing my body with soap doing a lil mini concert in the shower.

"Lelani shut the hell up!" My step dad pounded on the door and i sang louder to piss him off. "PUSH ME TO THE EDGE, ALL MY FRIENDS ARE DEAD!!" I yelled. "YEAH THAT'S WHAT YOU GON BE IF YOU DON'T STOP SINGING LIL GIRL- DEAD!" He yelled and i ignored his annoying ass. The song changed to Brown Eyes by Destiny's Child and i hopped out the shower, drying off while staring in the mirror and lip syncing Beyonce's verse.
