Lelani's POV

It was the day after the whole 'Tavares spilling out bits of his childhood to me' and i could't help but feel sorry for him. My mind kept drifting back to how it probably was for him to grow up without any influence in his life except for older cousins, friends and family who were all in gangs and sold/did drugs. I never really experienced that while growing up, when i was 11, just before my dad had died i remembered just living a happy and normal life. I would play outside until the sun got dark and i remembered living in a big home. We had a trampoline and a swimming pool outside. Now that i was old enough to remember and come up with theories, a part of me always knew my father had sold drugs and guns to people illegally which is what got him shot in the first place. A buisness deal gone wrong. After he died it was like everything was slowly being taken away from under our grasp. First it was the cars, the credit cards, the luxurious furniture and then finally.. the house. Mama and i had stayed over at my Grandma's for about 2 years until she met Lester and they got married. They moved and we stayed in a 2 bedroom roach infested apartment on the 7th floor, until we moved onto the 24th instead since it was a lot bigger. It really wasn't, the only thing that was different was the fact that the master bedroom was bigger. That shit still had roaches but over time they all eventually went away.

"Bitch is you even listening to me?!" I snapped out of my daze to see Yani giving me an annoyed look as she glanced while in the drivers seat back to the traffic in front of her and then me. She raised her eyebrows and i blinked.

"Yes hoe, i'm listening!" I huffed and she rolled her eyes damn well knowing that my ass spaced off again. I swear this bitch could read me like a Dr. Seuss book. I gazed out the window watching the scenery go by as we made our way to the mall since it was like our second home.

"Then what did i say?" She said and i looked at her while scratching my head. Shit.

"Um, you was talkin bout the Mcgregor and Mayweather fight?" I said while guessing and she looked over at me. "Oh good, you were listening!" She said happily and i blew a sigh of relief thanking the lord that i got it right.

"But bitch i would let Mayweather put these hands on me anyday wit his fine sexy ass. Beat me, yank my tracks out, stomp my head in wit yo timbs on, and drag me straight to hell mm yes daddy." She said and i gagged looking over at her like she was crazy. She looked over at me and laughed just as she pulled into the underground parking of the mall. I bit my lip while remembering what had happened the last time we came here. The shootout that almost took me and Tavares' life. I was glad he wasn't caught lackin or we'd both be on the Chicago news at 6. She parked and we both hopped out, adjusting my off the shoulder satin romper. Mine was a pretty teal color with floral pattern all over  and hers was identical to mine, except hers was in black. Both of our hairs had been straightened- curtousey of Nancy who insisted and i smiled over at my best friend who was doing the same to me.

"bITCH we got to be the baddest bitches in Chicago, on everything," She said while linking arms with me and i gasped dramatically at her.

"Bitch you forreal just read my mind!" I said over at her and she grinned pushing me playfully as we both walked inside of the mall.

"Since when did they open up a Sephora?" Yani asked while squealing and i shrugged as she dragged me inside. We glanced around, it was packed as usual. There were all black ladies working in here which i was fine with, but the fact that they were all giving the girls in the store stank faces didn't sit right with me. I raised my eyebrows while seeing that same bitch Tavares was hanging out with at the basketball cookout. I walked up to her, dragging Yani with me who whined in protest.
