Lelani's POV

That night I cried like a simp ass bitch. Nobody and I mean NOBODY would answer my calls. Not even Durk and his ass was in JAIL, like really? I was being ignored by everybody like I wasn't important enough to know what happened to Tavares. I just wanted to know if he survived the fire or not, was he alive or was he dead? Was that too much to ask?

"Lee.." I heard Yana shove me in bed with her groggy voice but I continued to stay silent, my back turned to her. She shoved me again with her elbow right in my back and I made a nasty sound as I shot right up.

"Ow! Bitch what!" I snapped and she gave me a look.

"Bitch don't be snappin' at me any type of way cuz you upset. Know how to fuckin' speak to people you bobblehead lookin ass Ape. Now here! Take the damn phone bitch." She snapped and I shut my ass right up. I snatched the phone from her wondering who the hell was calling her at 5 in the morning.

"Hello?" I said into the phone hoping it was Tavares.

"Hi, is this Lelani?" I heard an older woman on the other line and I slapped Yana's arm as she turned away from me and tried to sleep. She whined while tryna slap my hand away and I yanked the pink bonnet from her head tryna get her to wake up. She sat up and started throwing punches and I threw them right back while talking on the phone with one hand.

"Who is this?!" I tried to whisper to her but I did that shit loud as fuck and the woman on the other line heard me.

"It's Tayshawna Taylor." She said I blinked.

"Who?" I said like a dumbass. There was silence on the line for a moment before she sighed.

"Big Mama T?" She said and I gasped. Ever since I was young the rumor around Chicago was that Big Mama T was like the Griselda Blanco of Illinois. She ran a lot of the bigger businesses in the city and owned a bunch of lots and properties thanks to trapping. Apparently the Mayor knew but he turned a blind eye to whatever was going on in the south side. Apparently she had a son, but she hardly ever spent time with him or paid attention to him while he grew up since both her and her husband were in and outta jail 24/7. In 2003 she was finally arrested and thrown in jail but niggas said that she was bailed out and nobody had really ever heard much of her since then. Why was she calling me? Was this bitch tryna kill me?

"Hello?" She said and I coughed while swallowing my spit.

"Y-Yes?" My voice cracked and Yana laughed at me while putting her bonnet back on and lying back down in bed, this time turning to face me while grinning up at me. I rolled my eyes at her as Mama T began to speak to me.

"Lelani, I know you don't know who I am- you've probably never heard of me. I was way more active back in the day. Na look, we ain' got much time on the phone before motherfuckas start tracing shit. I need you to meet me at 836 Wilson St- close to the McDonalds where the old people be fucking at. I'm on the 17th floor, room 1704. knock once and come alone." Was all she said before she hung up. I blinked and stared at the phone before handing it back to Yana. I looked down at her and frowned she copied my frown.

"What she said?" She said as I layed back down so that we was both facing each other.

"She want me to meet her at some address next to the McDonalds where old people fuck? What kinda shit is that?" I mumbled to myself and she burst out laughing while placing her phone back under her pillow. I continued to stare at her still confused by the phone conversation before sighing and shaking my head, turning to stare up at the ceiling instead. She wasn't the one I was hoping to speak to.
