Chapter Nineteen
~ Ignacia’s Point Of View ~
I sat by the kitchen table, my eyes drooping and taking sips out of my tea. My head was banging and I could barely move as everything seemed to be twirling. I concentrated on the smell and taste of the tea, trying my hardest to ignore the loud tinkering and sizzling of another egg being fried by Mum. I just wanted her to stop but then my stomach would be left unsatisfied by the lack of food.
“Morning all,” Emma sang as she skipped into the room. She was dressed in a green, frilly top and black, skinny Jeans. She wore immaculate trainers and a smile played amongst her face.
“Hey,” Harry croaked a response. His voice raspy from the sleep.
I woke up this morning with a splitting headache and a heavy force pinning me down to my bed. I soon realised it was just Harry’s arm. I knew going to the party would be a bad idea but how I ended up in my bedroom with Harry beside me I had no idea. I tried to push his arm away and stand up but he was too strong for my weak body. In the end I drifted back to sleep, waiting for Harry to wake up first. I had showered and dressed before making myself a cup of tea. Mum came into the kitchen soon after, followed by Harry who sat beside me, staring at my every move.
“Oh darling, you’re awake,” Mum smiled at her. I couldn’t help but glare at her, not that she noticed, but why did she always get everything? Why did she get to be happy?
“What we having for breakfast?” She enquired, pulling a chair next to me. I frowned, watching the steam from my tea float in the air. It was just strange that she’d choose to sit next to me and get this…she flashed a smile towards me too. What’s up with that?
“Egg, mash potato and peas,” Mum informed us and as if by magic she placed two plates of everything she said in front of Emma and me. She went to plate up food for herself and Harry next. I pushed my cup of tea aside and pulled the plate of food in front of me. I licked my lips. Through my peripheral vision I could still see Harry staring at me.
“Okay, can you freaking find something else to stare at?” I shouted, sending Harry my perfected dagger stare. He slightly flinched as Mum placed a plate in front of him. He suddenly found interest in the egg, pushing his fork through it. I felt bad, I shouldn’t have shouted at him. I muttered, “Sorry.”
“It’s fine,” he smiled, revealing those dimples. Oh, those adorable dimples. He reminded me so much of Fausto. Mum sat at the table opposite Emma and we sat in silence as we ate. It’s just what we do in this family. We appreciate the food. Once we finished we thanked her.
“When are we leaving for the airport, Mum?” Emma asked, placing her plate in the sink. Mum reciprocated her action. I was also dressed to go with them. Today, we’re collecting Dad from the airport. I was slightly excited. The only thing that prevented me from smiling was the banging headache.
“Well, I would say now but Fausto hasn’t woken up. That poor boy has been worried all night when he saw you barely conscious being carried up the stairs by Harry. We might have to leave when he wakes up or one of you girls might have to stay. ” she directed towards me. I blushed with guilt. Fussy shouldn’t have seen me like that. So Harry carried me home? I side glanced at Emma, the smile seeming to fade her face. Argh, that means I must be staying.
“Fine,” I sighed. “I’ll stay and look after him. Just be back real soon.” I don’t know what it was but I just really wanted to see Dad. I missed him so much. I agreed to stay because I realised I was disappointing Fausto a lot lately. I needed to spend time with him.
“Thank you!” Emma squealed and she did the one thing we hadn’t done in ages. She reached over and quickly hugged me. I shrugged her off me. What the hell is wrong with her? At first she seemed disappointed but then she smiled. “We need to talk when I get back,” she simply said.
