Abby' s pov

"Beep, beep!" The alarm rang, troubling my otherwise deep sleep. "Hello cruel world! I require five more minutes of sleep before I can deal with you!" I yelled waking up the rest of the house as well. I could hear my older brother,Kason, laughing from his room, which was next door. "Shut up, peasant!" I yelled as he walked into my room, still laughing.
"No way," He said through his laughter. He was now sitting on my floor, trying to get a steady breath. "By the way Abby, Axel is downstairs eating breakfast with mom and dad."

That definitely work woke me up. Axel was my best friend from preschool, and the only person other than Kason to be there for me.

"Okay," I said, with fake reluctance, " I'll get up. But you have to leave first. Unless you want to watch me get changed," I said smirking.

"I'm leaving!" Kason exclaimed, scrambling off the floor.

"Thought so," I replied, rolling my eyes.

After finishing my makeup, I strolled downstairs to where Axel was waiting. I stopped in front of the window in the hall to gaze at the Welsh mountains covered in the morning fog. My thick Welsh accent sometimes made it hard to talk to Axel, but it was much easier now than in grade 6. He had to ask me to repeat almost every sentence since he had grown up with British parents.

"Hey Abbs!" He called, getting up from his chair to hug me. I had always loved the feel of his arms around me. "Are you ready to go?"

"Go where?" I inquired, knowing not to expect an answer.

"It's a surprise bird brain. For your birthday."

I smacked myself on the forhead. "I completely forgot that I turn seventeen today."

"Good job Abbs. Now let's get going!" He exclaimed, while pulling her out of the house.

Always full of energy, I thought. Why did I befriend a morning person?
