A TRILOGY FOR MANCHESTER // PART III

my favourite poet

is mancunian.

today

he opens his eyes from slumber

to witness the ash & rubble

settling on his home.

a ruin.

the result of a coward's crusade

to spread the gospel

of an imaginary god.

my favourite poet

is mancunian.

tonight

old writings will call to him

from the bookshelf,

begging him to keep vigil

& whisper the words

to guide the lost souls to rest.

he reads aloud

  'let there be peace'.
