xii - me & cancerous you

you started off as a

beautiful

fragile thing.

you were ethereal,

a ghostly blue smoke that

lingered on my lips

after each nicotine kiss.

casual indulgence

faded to violent

lust

& i began to

believe the lie,

that i could quit any time

i wanted to.

i return to you each day

like the rising eastern sun

& devour you.

your toxic soul

clings to me with

newly sharpened claws.

still wrapped in your

vogue scent

the tumour of you

rolls down my throat

with the fatal warmth of

poisoned liqueur.

each breath is shorter,

more desperate to

escape the taste of you.

but we are bound

together until death.

me & cancerous you.
