We all jumped out the the tree one by one, I took up the front of the group and Sam rounded up the rear. I lead the gang deeper into the woods avoiding roots that stuck up from the ground, and followed the northern star. The night was peaceful and welcoming to our presence once again my annoyance had settled down. Sam was on high alert once again, and Nick was making a stupid crack joke that Raven didn't find so humorous and ended up hitting Nick in the face with a rock. Typical for the gang, I lead ahead Bonnie walking right next to me with a smile on her face like always and telling Nick and Raven not to fight. My little peace keeper always wanting the group to get along, my heart swelled because she was so much like Lily.

I stopped, studying the ground and finding moss meaning there was water near by not to mention the soil was rather damp. The group waited and I froze when I heard a twig snap in the distance and grew tense. The others heard it and Bonnie looked around trying to locate the noise, Nick found it first and pointed it out silently. I looked at Sam for confirmation he only nodded. I waited for another sound the crunching of a leaf anything, I didn't know if it where seekers or not but thinking of Lily it fueled me to want to rip some seekers head off it was. I kneeled low to the ground ready to give into my survival instincts.

Something suddenly swooped down from the tree branches above and landed right in front of us, Bonnie shrieked her famous war splitting shriek that could break glass and leave any ordinary person unconscious on the ground but it didn't seem to phase his boy. He just stood there puzzled when Bonnie stopped he said,

"my apologies did I startle you?" He looked amused with the reaction Bonnie had given.

"Who the hell are you and why are you following us!" Nick instantly responded rudely before any of us could react and Bella cringed and hid behind Sam.

"Excuse me, but me, following you? Why the hell would I do that when your the one wandering into my territory? Do answer that." He quickly replied looking at us like we where a bunch of lost idiots.

Nick wasn't phased he was actually annoyed and I stepped up to the plate.

"Sorry, but we had no clue this was your territory all we where doing was passing through the area looking for a place to go." I say politely even though Nick had just thrown any sign of manners we could've come across with out the window. The boys expression changed from puzzled to down right amused now and he chuckled.

"So your telling me your lost?" He said flatly.

I winced at the context he used because it injured my reputation and pride but we where after I'd lead us off trail by accident I had no idea where I was going. I sighed and looked the boy up and down he looked no older than 17 which was Nicks age and I felt a little humiliated that a 17 year old was killing my reputation.

"You could say that we are yes." I say to him admitting into defeat when Sam interrupted me answer and I looked at him like honestly first Nick now you?!

"How well do you know these woods?" He asked.

"Like the back of my hand I lived and hunted in these woods my whole life." The boy said to Sam without even the slightest hesitation.

"How old are you?" Sam asked once again.

"Eighteen." The boy answered, rats I was off by a year in his age I realized and I kicked a rock.

"I'm Sam, I'm nineteen and this is my family or gang. You seem to have talent in scouting, and survival. What's your name?" Sam asked the boy calmly.

" Jason." He answered I still couldn't really see his features because he was hidden in the shadows. Sam didn't seem bothered by him the way I was, he was openly trusting this stranger like it was the most natural thing in the world.

"Follow me, you don't want to stick around this area too long we get some strange creatures out here by this time of night." Jason said and Sam grinned and followed him I caught up and grabbed his shoulder.

"So what, your just going to trust this guy like you've known him your whole life? What if he leads us to a trap what if he's a seeker or works for them??" I demand looking for some sense out of Sam and he just looked at me with narrowed eyes.

"What choice do we have, Chris? We are lost in these woods and we have no idea where we are going the fact that we came across anyone who even knows the area was pure luck this deep in the woods." He said flatly and that stung me like a fresh slap to the face. I knew he had a point but I didn't know if this Jason kid could be trusted.

We followed all of us now on alert incase following this kid was a trap and he worked for seekers. Nothing seemed to happen in these woods nothing popped up it seemed pretty normal and when we reached the end and finally stopped we where in front of a cabin that looked like it had never been utilized in the middle of the woods, a nice warm fire was burning inside and it looked rather cozy.

"This is where I live come inside I'll show you a map that will lead you back on corse with the trails of this park." Jason said to all of us, he hadn't pulled a fast one on us and he seemed pretty average just like us. Nowhere to go no family it was just him. I got a jolt of guilt for accusing him of being a seeker and I stared at the ground as I walked into the cabin which was bigger than it looked on the inside than it was on the outside.

"Excuse the mess." He was the first thing he said as we walked in, but none of us even paid attention to the mess around the cabin. we where too busy looking at how being the place actually was for someone to be all alone. I was amazed and I looked at him.

"So you live here alone? doesn't it get rather lonesome?" I suddenly ask and he smiles.

"Sometimes but not very often, sometimes I run into other wonders who end up lost just like you and I lead them back the way they came." He smiles nicely as the lights in the cabin came on and we saw him clearly for the first time.

Jason was tall and slender, he had a kind smile and a reassuring tone that now that I thought of it was rather comforting to hear. He had a gentle heart but he was also skilled and from the looks of the cabin now that the lights where on he was a genius. He had so many weird looking gadgets is never seen hanging on the walls and shelfs all over the place. He was wearing some torn up jeans, beat up and pretty well used converse and black t-shirt. He had dark brown eyes that had a sense of warmth and security to them that I didn't take the chance to notice and I felt bad that he had to stay here all alone with no company.

I watched as he pulled a map and pointed to Sam where exactly we all where and showed us the direction we needed to head and then welcomed us to stay the night he had plenty of supplies and room for us to stay. I looked at the gang and noticed all of then where pretty exhausted and were in need of a good amount of shut eye. I thanked him for his generous hospitality but he didn't think much of it and soon enough he headed back outdoors as we got settled in. I wondered about him and how he managed to live alone in this huge empty cabin with no company. Once the gang was asleep I sighed, then something nudged me I looked over and noticed Sam was still awake.

"Something's been bugging you since we got here, what's going on?" Sam asked. I hated how well he knew me even now.

"Well Jason, he's here all alone with no one and if I where here alone this place would give me the creeps. It's gotta suck to not have much company I mean..." I fell silent when Sam kissed my forehead.

"You worry too much, tell you what I'll make the offer to Jason to join this dysfunctional family and come with us if he wants too tomorrow morning." He says grinning and I look at him and nod silently I was too stunned to talk.

He hadn't acted this way at all for a while. I could've sworn I saw a spark of life awaken in him just then. Before I knew it Sam's arms where around me in a warm comfortable embrace that an overwhelming sense of safety washed over me. I looked at him and smiled or I think I did, I didn't remember much after that because I fell asleep too soon to even remember. All I knew was that I was safe my gang was safe and for the moment that's all that mattered.
