Chapter 4 The Quest

Ch.4 The Quest
Neptune's POV
"NEPTUNE!" Maddie yells in my ear.
My eyes shoot open and I jump up,"Wha..who..where?!"
She laughs as I gather myself and rub the sleep out of my eyes,"Good you're awake. Why were you on the floor?" She asks.
"Umm...well...I don't know." I lie.
She laughs and it makes my heart melt,"Well breakfast is starting and Julie said to come get you."
I groan and start walking towards the door before Madeline coughs,"You might want to put a shirt on buddy."
I suddenly become very aware the only thing I'm wearing is a pair of shorts I chuckle awkwardly,"Right, that might be a good idea."
After I put on some real clothes we walk out of the cabin and start walking over to the dining pavilion. I notice a lot of other campers walking around and notice a number of them staring at us and whispering.
"Did you see them come out of that cabin together?"
"Do you think they're dating?"
"Do you think they were getting funky?"
I had to laugh at that last one.
I'm still pretty shaken up about the phone call from my old boss last night and it definitely didn't settle the feelings of unease I had about being here.
The camp has a whole different feeling during the day, it's actually alive. Tons of campers running around, talking, playing. I stop for a second and just look around. This place is a safe haven for all of these people to train and live, and I almost indirectly caused the destruction of it. What would have happened to these kids had I done it? I spot a little girl with blonde hair and grey eyes reading some book intensely. She couldn't have been more than 10 or 11, where would she be now if this camp wasn't here? I don't even want to think about it.

"You ok?"

I look over at Madeline,"Yeah I'm good, just taking it all in, this place looks entirely different during the day."

She shoots me that same look from yesterday, like she can see right through me but she doesn't push it,"Alright well let's go, I'm starved."

We continue or walk to the dining pavilion, I'm still taking it all in and thinking in circles about this new situation I've found myself in.
I'm So caught up in my own thoughts I don't even notice when we get to the pavilion.

Madeline points to an empty table,"That's the Poseidon table over there." She points to another table where Julie is already eating a plate full of food,"We'll be just over there."

I nod but don't move,"Ok thank you."

She nods and looks at me,"Can you let go of my hand so I can go to my table?"

I laugh nervously I hadn't noticed that I was holding her hand,"Yeah sure."

I sit down and begin inhaling the plate filled with pancakes, bacon, biscuits, eggs and drink the orange juice.

A centaur walks to the front of the pavilion in front of the fire and smashes his hoof on the ground," Everyone!" Everyone looks up at him," I have just received word that some of the gods have gone missing."
Everyone begins panicking and yelling at each other.
"HEROES QUIET DOWN!" Chiron yells.
Everyone becomes so quiet it's scary apparently he doesn't yell a lot," Athena has given word that he wants some of you to go and find them and free them."
"Which gods?" Someone at the Hermes table asks.
"Poseidon, Zeus, And Hades. The Big Three." He says.
"How in the living Hades are we supposed to stop someone who captured the three most powerful gods?" An Athena kid yells.
Chiron is quiet.
"I'll GO!" Maddie yells.
What?!?
I stand up before I can stop myself,"I'll go too!"
Maddie smiles at me and Julie stands up," Don't even think about leaving me behind."
"It looks like we have our rescuers." Chiron says,"Be sure to get your stuff together today and get plenty of sleep tonight, you leave at dawn."
