The Tale of the hedgehog brothers

Chapter 2: Dark Manic

"AHHHHHHH!"
Manic screamed in terror as the energy from the chaos emeralds coursed through him. His fur turned from bright green to dark green. The quills on his head pointed upwards and his skin turned pale. When it was over, he opened his eyes revealing no irises or pupils, just glowing white eyes. He took a good look at himself and even licked his teeth which have become razor sharp. Finally, he was glowing a dark green aura all over his body as he levitated from the ground.

From inside, Manic could feel so much power coursing through his body, and he liked it.

"He he he. I finally have my own powers! Wait until Sonic and Sonia see this!" He said with a deep, relishing voice. Then he grabbed the chaos emeralds and flew towards the festival.

At the Summertime festival, everyone in town was gathered around as the sun was setting. There were colorful streamers everywhere and glowing lanterns hanging all over much everyone's delight.
Sonic and Sonia arrived earlier and told Aleena about the argument. She wasn't very happy and said, "When Manic gets here, I hope you two settle it Sonic." Sonic looked down a little as she said that.

Then the music started playing which signaled the festival was starting. The hedgehogs walked up to the podium where Aleena began a speech. "Welcome everyone to the annual Summertime festival! We all gather here to celebrate the longest day of the year as well as the power of the chaos emeralds that protect our world. May they continue to help us all at our time of need. Along with aid of my oldest son Sonic." The crowd began to cheered for the emeralds and Sonic.

Then suddenly, there was a green blur that came by and turned out the light from the lanterns. Everyone looked afraid of what was happening when the blur came up to the stage in front of the hedgehog family. The blur revealed itself to be Dark Manic. "Sorry I'm late everyone. Got a little caught in something." He said in a deep voice. Sonic and his mother and sister looked stunned at him. "Manic? Is that you? What happened?" He asked with a worried tone. Dark Manic turned to them and answered, "With a little help from the chaos emeralds." Then he held out the emeralds in front of him. Sonic was surprised and looked into his backpack when he realized it was actually Manic's. "Look at that everyone. I did a job Sonic didn't do! Ha ha!" He said as he put the chaos emeralds down.

Then Aleena stepped forward to speak, "Manic, you can't have this much power inside of you, it's dangerous and not healthy. You have to power down." Then Dark Manic gave a confused look as he said, "What! Power down? But I finally have my own powers. I can do all sorts of stuff like Sonic now!" Sonia then stepped forward, "That's different. He was born with his own powers. You got these powers by accident from the emeralds so you can't keep these." "But what about all I can do? I can be like Sonic now!" He said starting to get anxious. Finally Sonic stepped in front of him to end the argument. "Manic, listen to us! You can't have any of these powers. So believe me when I say this: You will never be like me!"

That's when something inside him finally snapped. He hung his head down as he said, "I get it now." Just as Sonic began to approach him, Dark Manic grabbed his wrist and looked at him enraged as he continued. "You're just afraid that someone will steal your spotlight! You've spent your whole life with great powers while I have none. Now I finally have my own powers, and you just want me to get rid of them!" Sonic looked at him in pain from how hard his wrist is being held. "It's not like that. Why don't we try and settle this?" He said practically pleading. Then Dark Manic gave him a sinister grin. "You're right, let's settle this!" And as he said that, he threw him off the stage.

The citizens started to run off in fear from what was going on. Sonic let out a groan from how hard he was thrown as he got up. As Dark Manic approached him, Sonia called out to him. "Manic, don't do this!" "Stay out of this Sonia! It's between me and Sonic!" He called back when he got spindashed from behind by Sonic. He turned to his sister,"Get everyone to safety with mom Sonia. I'll take care of this!" He said. "Alright, be careful Sonic." She said and went with Aleena to evacuate. Then Sonic ran to Dark Manic to face him. "I don't want to fight you Manic, but I will if I have to." He told him. Manic started to get up and faced him with a mad look as he spoke, "Sorry bro, but like you said, there's only room for one powerful hedgehog, and that's ME!" So he went at him and began the fight between the two hedgehogs.

Meanwhile, Aleena and Sonia got everyone safe inside their homes to avoid the battle. "That's everybody mom." Said Sonia. "Good job Sonia" said Aleena. Then she saw a blue streak and a green streak heading for the mountains, which meant her sons were fighting there. "I just hope Sonic will be alright." She said with a concerned look. Sonia then turned to her and asked,"Why did the chaos emeralds turn Manic dark?" Her mother turned to her and answered,"I think it's all the jealousy and anger inside him that's fueling the dark energy. If he can't power down on his own, then I hope Sonic can find a way to contain him." Sonia then turned to look at where her brothers were fighting. "I think he may not have a choice."

Back with Sonic, he was having an intense fight with dark Manic, and he was losing. They punched, kicked, and spindashed each other as hard as the other can. With all the power from the emeralds, Manic was feeling energized but Sonic was starting to feel tired. Until with one final spindash between them sent Sonic flying towards where the chaos emeralds were. He started to get up while in pain when he spotted the emeralds. "He's too strong, if he keeps this up he might destroy everything. But maybe I can even it out. Mom said the emeralds can give anyone a super form, maybe they can give me one." He thought.

Then he saw Dark Manic flying towards
him saying "Time to end this Sonic!" With no time to lose, he stepped into the circle of chaos emeralds to turn into his super form. The Chaos emeralds began to glow as the energy flowed through Sonic. His fur turned into glowing, golden yellow color and his quills pointed up. When he opened his eyes, they changed from green to red. He became Super Sonic.

He faced towards Dark Manic with tears in his eyes as he whispered, "I have to do what's best for everyone. I'm sorry Manic." With those final thoughts, he flew straight towards him and grabbed him. He pushed him high into the sky while Dark Manic had a look of fear. "What?!" He said. With one last look at him with tears running down his face, he pushed him in a beam of golden yellow as he heard him yell, "NOOOOO! AHHHHHH!"
The beam kept going faster and higher until finally it hit the moon. A dark silhouette of a hedgehog's face appeared on the side of the moon that looked like Manic.
Super Sonic flew down to his family and powered down. Sonic, Sonia, and Aleena looked up at the moon with Manic on it as they mourned over losing their youngest son.
