and I saw the world in a thousand hues
that ranged from subtle violets
and dusty shades of pink
to dark shades of crimson and navy blue –
Yet all you saw were shades of greys
that cloaked your eyes like a veil
and diluted whatever you saw, completely,
until all you began seeing was a darkness
that dulled the life from within you.
