: Justin's Point Of View :
"We're here"
I jumped out of the car the moment I heard those words leave Scooter's, my manager, mouth. A confused look came across my face as I noticed we were in a neighborhood that did not look in good shape as it probably did back in 1970.
The house we stopped in front of was small but not too small, bricked walls, old shutters, worn down but still holding up. Scooter pressed the lock button on his car remote and walked around from the side of his car and up the driveway without acknowledging my confusion.
"Why are we here?" I blurted out and shuffled up the concrete to catch up with his pace.
"This is my niece's house, I just wanted to stop by and check in on her."
"Age?" I already questioned, slightly hoping that she was around my age but also not.
"16" He responded, cutting me off before I could say anything, "Don't make any moves you pubescent teenage boy"
I couldn't help but stifle a laugh at what he just called me before we stopped in our tracks at the sound of a high pitch scream.
"Stop! I didn't do anything, please just let me go!"
"Is that her?" I mouthed to Scooter as he faced me. His face was already pale as if he had seen a ghost and I knew that it was.
"Call the police" I reacted by tossing him my phone the moment I heard glass shattering and a muffled shout yelling for the girl to shut up.
"Justin, we don't-" Scooter fumbled with my phone as he tried to convince me not to go there yet.
"Now!" I shouted, not giving a crap about how little we know of the situation inside.
I heard him begin to dial 9-1-1 and press my phone up to his ear as I began to bang heavily on the door to try to distract whoever inside is hurting Scooter's niece.
"Open up!" I screamed, hearing cries of help as I began to just body slam into the wooden door.
"Stop, dad, please!"
I let out a shout of frustration as I banged harder on the door and drew the attention of some of the neighbors.
"Open the god damn door!"
I slammed into the door harder than I did before and I heard the wood crack beside me as the door swung open. My arm was immediately engulfed in pain but the moment I saw her laying on the floor with a man hovering over her with something hidden in his hand, I wanted to rip off my own arm so I had something to beat him with.
"Who the hell are you?" He shouted, enraged that I just broke down his door. It was a crappy door anyways.
"Someone who is about to beat your god damn ass if you don't step away from her right now" I threatened as he stood up and left his daughter on the ground with blood dripping down the side of her head.
"Who do you think you are that you can walk into my own house and threaten me?" He yelled as he suddenly took a swing at me.
"Actually, I busted down your door" I said before fighting back.
Sirens began to come into hearing range and I heard Scooter yelling for officers to hurry. I caught a glimpse of the chaos outside before I felt a sharp pain at the side of my head and collapsed onto the floor.
