I jog down the stairs and clip Buster's lead on, before walking out the door and heading down our usual trail towards the dog park. School holidays started a few days ago, so it's nice not having to wake up at ridiculous times in the morning and worry about having to be at a certain place for a certain time. It's nice to be able to wind down.

My phone pings and I look and see a text message from Archer;

A: Look to your left

I do as he says and I see Archer sitting in the same place he was a month ago, where we met after my mother revealed she cheated on my father. I walk over to him and sit down on the bench he is on and look at him.

"Let me guess, need to clear your thoughts?" I ask and he nods his head.

"Yeah, see I have a crush on this girl and usually I can literally just go up to a girl, say I like her and she'll fall in my arms and that be that. However, I know that won't work with this one. I was wondering, as a girl who doesn't fall for my antics yourself, could you give me any advice?" He asks.

"Well, stopping your playboy antics is a good start. If you are serious about starting something with her, you need to show her you're committed to change for her. Lose the attitude and need to keep your rep alive, because women like a man who knows who he is and doesn't care what others think about him." I say.

"What if she doesn't like me?" He asks.

"Take it on the chin, try again and if that doesn't work, move on. Sure, it's OK to be sad about it, I mean you like the girl, feelings don't just go away, it takes time. Just don't throw a hissy fit and publicly humiliate the girl, like you did the last few times." I warn and he nods.

"Not my proudest moments." He says and I look at him shocked.

"Wow, this chick has got you under her spell! Who is she?!" I ask.

"No one you know. She comes from out of town and I've known her for a few years. Took me till now to realise how much I like her." He admits.

"Will I ever find out who she is?" I ask.

"Maybe, if she will take me." He answers and I nod. I can't help but feel a twinge of jealously? I guess I had never thought of Archer in a romantic way, because of his reputation, but seeing this softer side of him is making me feel things I have never felt. Oh well, I guess it was never going to happen anyway.

"Well, I'm sure she will. So, are you coming on the cabin trip this weekend?" I ask.

"Yeah. I'm assuming you'll be bringing Buster along?" He asks looking down at Buster.

"Of course. He's basically my child, if I could he would come to school with me, every single day." I comment and he laughs.

"You're a total dog mum you know that?" He asks and I nod.

"And proud." I exclaim. "Anyway, I have to get going, I've been out for 20-25 minutes and Buster needs his dinner so."

"Is that key for your hungry and you want food, so your just being polite and saying it's the dog?" He asks.

"No. If I was hungry, I would just tell you and leave, but Buster does actually need his dinner and my dad has a whole bunch of colleagues coming over for some dinner/gambling night, which I am being forced to participate in because of my surprising skills in poker. It's slightly concerning that a whole bunch of cops are encouraging a 17 year old to participate in a game, I am technically not legally allowed to play in Vegas."

"Sounds fun, wish my parents were cops." He laughs and I make a face.

"Maybe not. I only get the freedom I do because he's always working. Anything else, he's pretty strict about." I admit and Archer nods. "Well, see you later."

"See ya." He waves goodbye as I vanish with Buster and head back home. When I get there, I see pretty much the entire unit has shown up and are gathered around in the kitchen, beers in hand. They're so deep in conversation, they don't realise until Buster runs up and starts barking at them to get their attention.

"Hey! Are you ready for an intense game of Poker?!" Houghton exclaims,. causing me to smile and everyone to chuckle. "I call dibs on being on Channing's team!"

"Poker is every person for themselves, Houghton. I'm ready to kick your arse!" I exclaim and they all start hooting and we gather around the table outside which has already been set up. Money is placed in the middle from all parties, including myself and we big to play.

4 games in and I have got £500, these people suck at Poker, I hope they don't have to play it on an undercover mission. I walk into the kitchen and grab a coke and I am greeted by Ramirez.

"Nice games. How you ever became this good at Poker, I'll never know. Probably don't want to either?" She asks.

"When I have the answer, I'll let you know." I comment and she nods.

"How have you been? With the whole divorce and you being in the middle?" She asks.

"I'm not really in the middle, I was just the one who caught her in a lie. And she already made it perfectly clear that she didn't want me and to be honest, I don't want her." I respond.

"Your dad worries about you a lot, he tells us all the time. I think he believes you can't talk to him because he's your dad and this is more of a female conversation, so if you ever need to download, you can always come and talk to me." She offers and I smile.

"Thanks, but honestly I'm OK." I assure her and she rubs my shoulder before walking back outside. I say goodnight as I'm tired and walk upstairs to bed.

*Hey guys! Sorry I've been away for a while! I have literally sat in college and done this chapter because I have been meaning to upload for days. Thank you so much for the support, it really means so much to me and I will try and update again later tonight or tomorrow. I am just going to put a disclaimer that it is very hard for me to upload more than once a day, because of how busy I am, hopefully in a few weeks when college is over, I will have weeks to produce more content for you all, before I have to come back to college. I hope you enjoy the chapter and there will definitely be more chapters with Archer and Channing, the further along we get in the story. ~Mackenzie*
