Chapter Forty-Two

The end of the show doesn't mean the end of my relationship with the cast, especially Misha and Jared. It's particularly easy to keep in touch now that we're all living in the same country.

Misha and his family have moved around a lot since he started work on Supernatural, keeping their addresses private to avoid harassment from the public. He's lived in D.C., Vancouver, L.A., and more. But they've been living in the house he built in California for a while now, which is just over an hour away from my new place in Malibu.

Whenever he used to stay at his house in L.A., he would offer to help look after then-infant JJ, babysitting for Dani and I. He's built a close relationship with my daughter over the years, and I with his kids.

In the first year of the twinkles' lives, he visited from Vancouver to help look after them once my parents left. Dani was busy with her return to modelling.

It was mostly during hiatus, and he was too caught up with his various charities to stay as long as he wanted to, but it gave me a glimmer of hope knowing that he cared enough to remain involved in my children's life even after we stopped seeing each other. He didn't let what happened between us get in the way of his relationship with my kids, and I admired that.

As part of our commitment to keeping in touch, Jared has insisted that we continue our annual tradition of meeting over the summer at one of our homes. This year, it's his cottage again. I only had to conjure up my memories of our first time there to tell Jared: sign me the fuck up.
