Hours, days, months went by. That's what if felt like for poor Calum in the hospital waiting room. Times seemed to be never ending since they took Jasmine in. She had went into labour.
Jasmine decided to stay with Calum and his roommate for a while. Her father was worried sick when she disappeared, and Jasmine begged Calum not to tell him why and where she had run off to, but he couldn't bare to see the man stress himself to death. One afternoon, while Jasmine was at work, he snuck over to the hospital and explained the situation to him. Of course Mr. Reed didn't understand Jasmine's state of mind. She was constantly paranoid about being an inconvenience, and whenever she felt anything like that she leaves. He asked me if she'd ever come back and Calum was at a complete loss of words.
Truthfully, Calum didn't know if Jasmine would ever leave. He didn't want her too— but he knew that her family missed her. Calum loved having Jasmine around, although she's working and when she's not she's always at Uni, she always manages to clean and cook.
'It was like having mom around' Calum always told Mali Koa on the phone.
Jasmine and Calum visited Michael twice a week ever since he got convicted. He got his visiting privileges taken away a few times though. They always brought ultrasounds, showed him the baby clothes they bought. It's been 10 months since he's been gone and Jasmine has been struggling evidently.
The baby will be 16 years old when Michael finally gets out of jail. And Calum secretly wondered if their relationship will last another 16 years, from behind bars.
"It's been almost 4 hours come on, fuck" Calum cursed, beginning to pace around. Saying that, the waiting room door flew open. Mr. Reed, Auntie Jaya, and Calum jumped up. The doctor fumbled with his papers, with a strange breathing pattern and immediately Jasmine's dad already recognised the situation.
"Is this the family of Jasmine Reed?" He asked and the trio nodded intensely. The doctor inhaled deeply. "Your grandchild is safely delivered, not a thing wrong with him- right on time. But Ms. Reed had complications during the procedure. We were going to do a vaginal procedure, but we found out the baby didn't turn properly and if we were gonna continue with the birth the cord would inevitably strangle and kill your grandchild. So, we had to do an emergency C-Section, and there was a lot of internal bleeding and a major blood vessel was torn. She's getting sewn up but she's going to have to be put in a medically indused coma. I'm afraid if we were to keep her conscious after the procedure she would die within a few hours. It's a lot safer this way, we can monitor her and-"
"W-When will you wake her up?" Calum interrupted him, tears already brewing in his eyes. The doctor coughed again. "It depends on how she'll heal. Usually, it's anywhere from 2-5 months."
"What if she doesn't wake up?"
"Then we have to trust that she'll wake up by herself."
"But what if she doesn't?"
"Then I'm afraid you'll loose your daughter."
