A small blonde woman flounced in from the kitchen smiling. She had green eyes, but not like Aron's they didn't have the same warm light. They were a little colder and not as sweet. She looked a little shocked at the sight of me. "Hello Son" she smiled. "This must be Beth" she said reaching her hand out to shake mine. I took her hand and smiled back. "Yes, It's so nice to meet you. I have nothing but great things to say about your son" I said giving Aron a squeeze. Aron squeezed back and then kissed my head sweetly. "Oh, that's lovely to here" she said. I noticed there was a disapproving tone in her voice. I tried not to snap at her but it was getting harder. I could tell she thought she was better than me. She kept looking at Aron angrily. He would just cast a swift glance at her as if to say 'don't start'. It was irritating. "Come meet my Dad, Beth" Aron offered kindly. I hoped his father would be more understanding. He took me into the kitchen. At the table sat a big man with strong arms. I couldn't see his face as he was reading a newspaper. When he noticed us he folded the newspaper and flashed me a sincere smile. He had kind bright blue eyes. I saw now where Aron got his good looks and kind face. His father just looked like a good person. "Well Aron, you certainly have an eye for a pretty girl" He laughed before getting up, shaking my hand and kissing my cheek. He sat back down and gestured for Aron and I to do the same. We sat round the table. I found that Sam was easy to get along with. I explained how I had met Aron. He found the story funny. "That's my bot Aron" he laughed "just like Smith men to let the lady take control" We all laughed along with him. "So where's Jake?" Sam asked in a cheerful way. That's the thing I like about Aron's Dad you can tell he really wanted to know. "He's at his house with Jess" Aron explained. "Jess?" His Dad asked quizzically. "It's my roommate and Jake's new girlfriend" I explained to him. "That's nice, since your all close" He smiled. "So how's Dave" he continued. "Fine, Same as always" Aron told his father. Aron's mom walked in. In her arms she held a small white cat. Which hand to God made her look like a super villain. A tall man followed her. He looked exactly like her. He had neat blonde hair and cold green eyes. "Hi" I welcomed. "Hello" The tall man responded. "I'm Beth, Aron's girlfriend" I smiled falsely. "I'm Damon, Aron's brother" He smiled back twice as false. "Hey Damon" Aron sighed. Sam said nothing. Loraine (Aron's mom) said that I should go and unpack in Aron's room. I asked where it was "second door to the left" they all said at the same time but there was no warm laugh that followed the accidental jinx. I padded up the stairs and turned left. The second door had a scratched old sign on it that read: Aron's room ENTER IF YOU DARE! and a little skull and crossbones. I giggled and imagined Aron as a kid. I DARED to enter his room and opened the door. It was a colourful room, a huge room. One wall was red and the others were an aqua blue. On the red wall were lots of orange bubble like shapes. The bed was a bunk bed. but the bottom was a double bed and the top was a single. He had awesome bedclothes. They were green with a purple radioactive warning sign. There was a black lamp. I flicked it on. When I looked at the ceiling I noticed star stickers. I bet they were glow in the dark. There was an orange shag pile carpet. He had a large closet the doors of which were covered in stickers. I laughed to myself. He had ornaments all over the place. Mostly Lord of the Rings characters. There was huge plasma T.V that connected to a P.C gaming computer. The unit it sat on had empty holes where drawers would normally. These were instead filled with games and DVD's. I noticed a box set of Death Note and another of some different horror movies. I instantly went "Oooohhh!." I heard angry voices downstairs. I slipped out of the room and quietly crept down the stairs. "There's nothing wrong with Beth! And I'll stand up to anyone who thinks otherwise!!" I heard Aron growl. "Oh please, look at her she's not nearly good enough for you, Aron" I heard Loraine snap. Damon joined in "Yes, I mean just look at what she was wearing, that's not very respectable for a woman!" He said snootily. "Shut up!" Aron yelled furiously. "I love Beth and neither of you will change that!!!!!!" He shouted meanly. Sam stood up and said clearly and calmly "Simmer down, Beth's only upstairs. Not on the moon" They all looked at him then sat down. "Sorry Dad" Aron said with his head in his hands. I smiled He really cares I thought to myself. "I'll actually go see Beth now" Aron said jumping up. I silently sprinted upstairs and into his room. I threw open my suitcase and pulled out some clothes just as Aron burst in. "Hey Beth, Just came up to unpack" He smiled and for the first time I noticed a sadness behind that smile. His family must always be like this. Outside they're perfect but really they're not. Aron is
