Chapter 23

I finally finished everything that had been on my list for today and I run up to my room to quickly change. I change into a pair of jean shorts, a flowy tank top and I grab one of my cream cardigans and a pair of my strappy sandals. I grab my purse and run down the stairs of the embassy and out the door. I make sure to run past the town car and jump into the back of Tianna's van. She pulls away from the curb and out of the embassy gates. "So where are we going?" I ask Belle.

"A Bonfire." She says and I roll my eyes.

"I know that, but where?" I ask and I hear both her and Tia laugh.

"In the neighborhood next to yours." Tia says and I laugh.

"Alright thank you." I say and they both laugh at my reaction. It takes a little while to get from the embassy to the place where the bonfire is happening but by the time we get there the fire has already been lit, and the alcohol is already out. I walk over to one of the coolers and grab a bottle of water. I told Tia and Belle that I would take them to Belle's house tonight and take Belle's car back to the embassy. So I get to be DD tonight, which doesn't really bug me I don't really like alcohol anyway. I go and take a seat next to the fire with my bottle of water and start roasting a marshmallow to make a s'more. It is about 9pm now, and the girls and I are leaving here at midnight because we all need some sleep for tomorrow. It was 2 hours that I just sat alone at the bonfire between short conversations from old classmates before someone came up beside me.

"Hey beautiful." I hear him say but before anything else I just smell alcohol.

"Hello." I politely say to him.

"You here alone?" He asks putting his arm around my waist. I gently remove his arm and try to remain polite.

"I am here with my friends; who I think I should go find." I say standing up to get away from him only to have him grab my wrist and pull me back down beside him.

"You don't have to go; you should stay here with me. You need to loosen up." He says trying to pour some of his beer into my mouth.

"No thank you. Now can you please let me go?" I ask pushing the beer away from me and trying to move away again.
"What's wrong, don't like the beer?" He says placing the bottle against my lips and pulling me closer starting to pour the beer into my mouth. I close my eyes and try my best to prevent the beer from being swallowed. Before I know it the bottle is no longer near me and I no longer feel his tight grip on my waist. I spit out the beer and before I have a chance to really look around and see what is happening I feel a tight grip on both of my fore arms and someone is leading me out of the party.
"Wait! I need to get Tianna and Belle! I say and I hear the voice behind me respond.

"We are bringing them out don't worry." The voice responds and my eyes snap open.
"Liam Payne?" I say in shock. What the heck is he doing here.

"The lads and I spotted the bonfire from our hotel and figured if we came late enough everyone would be too drunk to notice us." He explains.

"Well then thank you for showing up and saving me." I say smiling up at him.

"It's no problem. Are you ok?" He asks me.

"Well other than just being a little shaken, I am fine. He did not hurt me." I say and he nods and breathes a sigh of relief.

"I don't think you should drive." He says looking at the car keys in my hand.

"I have to. I did not drink anything other than water, and my friends are completely drunk by now." I explain to him.

"Here, how about I drive you where you need to go." He says. "I know that even after that scene the lads aren't going to want to stay here, so we can get you girls where you need to go." He says with a small smile.

"Such a gentleman, but I think we will be ok." I say taking the keys and going to manually unlock the door and not being able to get the key into the lock due to how bad I am shaking; after a few seconds the keys just fall out of my hands.

"I think I'm driving." Liam says bending down and grabbing the keys.

"Thank you." I say with a small smile as the boys return with a drunk Tia and Belle.

"Sami, look who we found!" Belle slurs.

"Yea, I think we found a leprechaun!" Tia slurs with her and I just shake my head.

"I am so sorry about this." I say taking the girls and getting them into the back of Tia's van and fastening their seatbelts.

"It is perfectly alright love." Harry says with a gentle smile.

"Louis, can you drive our car and follow this van?" Liam asks tossing Louis his keys.

"Sure thing what is going on?" Louis asks.

"Well Sami is a little to shaken to drive so I am going to help her drop off her friends." Liam says and Louis nods.

"Sure thing." He says and we load into our separate cars. I give Liam instructions on how to get to Belle's house and once we pull in the drive way Belle's older brother comes out and helps me get the two drunks into the house.
"Thanks Devon." I say with a small smile.
"No problem, you and Belle helped me enough times, it's my turn to return the favor." He says and I laugh a bit.

"Here are Tia's keys for when she wakes up and can drive tomorrow." I say with a laugh

"Here are Belle's keys. Belle told me about your birth father. Congrats by the way. I know you don't want a lot of people knowing so here is your escape route." He says and I pull him into a hug.

"Thank you so much Devon! I'll be right back." I say before walking out of the house and heading for Louis' car. The boys were all standing in the drive way waiting for me. "Thank you boys for your help tonight. You really did not have to drive me. I could have gotten the girls and I back." I say before giving Liam a hug.

"You couldn't even get the key in the lock you were shaking so bad. Of course we needed to drive you." Liam says.

"What even happened back there?" Louis asked as he pulled me into a hug.

"I was just sitting by the fire enjoying my water when that guy came up to me and when I politely tried to reject him he just tried to pour beer down my throat to get me drunk, and I was not strong enough to get away...no wonder I don't go to parties." I say looking down at my hands in my lap.

"I'm sure if he had tried to go any further or made it anymore obvious someone would have stepped in." Niall says.

"What did you guys do to him anyway?" I ask as I hug Niall and Harry.

"Well I knocked the beer out of his hand and I am really not sure where it landed, but it shocked him enough that I was able to just pull you away." Liam explains.

"Well thank you." I say as Niall and Harry start to get back into the car.

"Is there anywhere you need to go?" Liam asks looking at the keys in my hand.

"Oh no. These are just Belle's keys. She asked for something out of her car when we got here." I lie and see him looking at me skeptically. "I will see you boys around." I say with a smile as I turn around and walk back into the house. I shut the door and stare through the peep hole watching and waiting for their car to leave. Once it is gone from the driveway and out of sight I breathe a sigh of relief. I say bye to Devon and get into Belle's car and drive back to the embassy. I park the car on the side of the building and gather myself before walking into the embassy only to be stopped by the head of security.
"Did your evening go well?" He asks.
"I now better understand why I need security in the first place." I say and he raises his eyebrows.

"Are you hurt?" He asks.

"No, not injured just shaken up, but some good Samaritans helped me out and brought me back safely so that is all that matters." I say and he nods his head.

"Well go get some sleep Princess, you can explain itmore in the morning." He says and I nod my head before heading up to my room toget some much deserved rest.y
