Smiling, I stepped out after Bryndwr. My hair was a mess and I would probably have to have a gruesome fight with it later but that was it. The Weasleys were pretty much in the same state as me. Although less exited.
A low vomiting sound came from my right and when I turned that way I saw father leaning towards the cave wall while taking deep breath in an attempt to get the green on his face away.
" I should have remembered. Oliver, you never have been one to come out of that ride without motion sickness." Mr. Weasley said and gave father a clap on the back.
Our little group simply had to wait while dad calmed down before continuing with anything.
Bryndwr lead the way and I decided that talking to him couldn't hurt. If anything it was better than later having to look up whatever he told me in a book to learn it.
His replies were always short but explained much more than I think a hole page would have on the same subject so like air I inhaled as much of the knowledge about the goblin society and this bank as possible.
It was quite investing to say the least.
I loudly gave my praise to the goblins when he told me about the rebellion they made when they had enough of witches and wizards killing goblins like crazy. He seemed quite happy over that.
We stopped talking when we reached the Weasleys vault and they quickly grabbed some of the few coins that layes in there.
After that, we went to the wagon once more but only traveled for a minute at most before stopping at my an dad's vault. This one contained much more galleons, knuts and sickles then the last one. But it also contained some family relics and other expensive looking things.
Father filled a smaller bag with a bit more money than he seemed necessary which was almost twice the amount Aurthur took.
The ride back up again went just as fast as the journey down however somehow seemed to have been even worse for father. Because of that, we went to buy and icecream and breath some air and the Weasleys walked towards the poison ingrediece shop.
So we said our goodbyes and I made them promise to invite us over for dinner some time.
Even though summer definitely was over, the icecream still didn't seem too cold and was the best I had eaten in all of my lives. I was a bit daring and took one scoop of Beaty boots beans flavored ice cream - which changed taste for every bite you took- and one safe card that was a scoop coconut flavoured ice cream, my all time favourite.
" So, what did you think of that Charlie kid?" Dad asked and gave me a knowing look.
" He's cool. He was really nice and his dad as well. His entire family are wizard, aren't they?" I asked.
He simply nodded as reply and I asked:
" Can we come over to them as they suggested?"
" Of course my little dragon flame! Just not too soon. Mum would miss us."
"Okay!" I said and after that we just small talked about anything and everything we could see. When we finally finished our ice creams, it had been an hour and I was eager to visit every bookstore on this street. I read in one of dad's books that the Diagon Alley was mostly known for it's many exemplars of books. Both new and old.
Dad let me sit on his shoulders so I could see and I directly spotted a interesting looking bookshop that seemed to have books every where.
" That's where I wanna go, father!" I exclaimed and pointed in its direction.
" Okay, okay. Just hold on tight." He said before starting to run towards the shop which got me to yelp before giggling like crazy.
The low clicking sound of a bell was heard as we entered the shop and I had to hold back a gasp. From the floor to the roof, the walls were filled with bookshelves filled to the limit with more books then I could wish for. And it wasn't just by the walls they stood. No, bookshelfs stood everywhere, creating small pathways between them like a maze.
" Looking for something special?" A old man's voice spoke and a grey haired wizard stepped out from one of the book made corridors.
" Only as much knowledge as it exists in between the pages of more books than we can carry," I said and smiled. The man was dressed in a orange robe, much unlike the many purple and dark green robes I saw many adults wear which was the majority amongst them.
" Ah, well let's see what I can do to help you then! Please, you are aloud to look around as much as you like as long as you learn something while doing so." he said and gave us a not that decsreet wink before going away again. I giggled a little at his words though I didn't for a second doubt he meant every word of it.
" Dannie, sweetheart. Is it okay if I go and check us in at a room at the leaky cauldron while you are looking around? I won't be gone long. Just promise not to leave the store. Okay?"
" εντάξει "
" What?"
" I- I mean okay! εντάξει means okay in Greek. I've learned a few words," I said quick before running over to the closest bookshelf.
" Okay then...? See you soon, little dragon flame," He said, and with a low clang from the doorbell, he had left.
I shook off the awkward feeling that was left and quickly lost myself in the books. Smiling, I let my fingertips travel over the backs of the many pieces of written art, just letting the amazement over so much new knowledge sink in.
I came to a stop when my eyes fell on a familiar name. Taking the book out of the shelf, I read what it said on the cover.
' Azkaban, the place we should never have discovered, by Elderitch Diggory.' it stood and I couldn't help but want it. I knew little about the place except that it was a prison and I doubted dad would tell me since I was so young. Plus, whoever wrote this obviously must have been related to Cederic Diggory so I saw no reason not to buy it.
After that I found a book about how to become an animagus with ten easy steps, a book about wandless magic, a book with interesting spells, one book that apparently was made by Olivander, that guy who made wands. It was obviously about wands and I decided it was worth checking out. Lastly, I took a book with stories to read so I got a feeling of the wizard worlds literature and would have some sort of story to read for Harry and Scott. Especially Harry, so that he would actually know something about this world full of magic without knowing it.
Father still wasn't back yet so I started reading Diggory's book. I hadn't gotten far before he he came and I gave him a smile.
" Hi my dragon flame. Sorry I took so long, I entered the wrong shop. Done yet?"
I nodded and held up the books.
" Hmm... you know, it might take some time before we come back here again, and I know you. You! Young lady, will finish those books in no time! So, to avoid unnecessary trips here, why don't you go and find something more? Consider it an early Christmas gift," He said and smiled, taking the books from me.
Grinning like an idiot, I ran back and speed walked back and forth and came back with at least fifteen more.
Together we walked to the desk which the man now sat behind. Dad placed the books down and the shop owner just needed a quick look at the book titles before he said the price. Father looked surprised at the man and asked:
" Not more? It must be at l least three more galleons with this many books,"
" No, not at all. What would I need that money for? I'm getting too old to need more money than to give me and my husband food on the table and a warm house. To see the young once learn something new is more valuable to me than what you could give. That is, if the young lady did learn anything, or if everything Mr. Diggory wrote just went in through one eye and out of the next one, that is." He said and raised a eyebrow in a questioning manner.
" Elderitch Diggory worked for the ministry and happened to visit Azkaban. I was just reading his detailed description of the prison and how a dementor looked when father came." I said exited.Elderitch was amazing with words and painted amazing pictures for me about Azkaban, and how the happiness sucking creatures looked. Although I already knew that from the Potter movies.
The old man nodded, apparently pleased with my answer and gladly accepted dad's money.
" Exuse me sir. But what is your name?" I asked and looked up in to his almost black eyes.
" I am Perseus Jacob Dylan Bellavance, and you?"
" Danie Beatriz Reed. See you later Mr. Bellavance!" I said and waved goodbye before leaving the shop, a bag filled with my new books in a firm grip in my other.
The rest of the day went to eating lunch at a small café as I told him about what I had bought, buying me a pair of wizard clothes in one size too big so I would be able to wear them for a while, father explaining about the different shops and just doing things you do with your dad. The street got emptier the lower the sun in the sky sank, but we stayed out and even ate dinner outside, enjoying the last warmth of the year before returning to our room. I slept well that night. No nightmares haunted my dreams, and no other type of dream either for that part. I was happy, and I knew, no matter what was thrown at me after this in this life, I could take it.
