At The Age Of 6

It was summer, and I was FINALLY going to begin school. Since my birthday was way back in January, I was going to be one of the older kids in my class.

As I walked there, holding my mother's hand, I once more straightened my school uniform's black skirt and blue cardigan.

" Scottie! Scottie!! Hey! Over here!!" I called out I saw my childhood friend Scott come out from another street together with his mother.
I let go of mother's hand and ran over to him. We were both going to attend the same school. Apparently it was called " Oakworth".
" Hi, Danie!" he said happily and pulled up his schoolbag that had begun to slide down his shoulder.

" I've told you, call me Dan or Danny. Friends give each other nicknames, remember?" I told him and faked a pout
" And I have told you before, Danie. Dan is a boy's name and is not a proper nickname for a young lady." my mother said with a scolding look.
" But I'm not a young lady! I'm a child so I can be called whatever I want!" I said before sticking my tongue out and laughing as I started to run ahead of the others, simply laughing at my mother's hopeless attempts to tell me that was no way to behave.

The school day passed quickly and the only thing we really did was to introduce ourselves to our new classmates and draw our families. When the time came for us all to leave, both mine and Scottie's mothers were late. I assured him that they would come soon enough and that they probably just had been talking about things for his upcoming birthday and forgot the time a bit. That seemed to calm him down, but I still asked our new homeroom teacher, Ms. Ginnema if we could borrow some books while waiting. Ms. Ginnema's full name was Mallory Cémra Ginnema and she was a twenty eight years old woman that could change from the most friendly woman you could ever meet to a thundercloud of anger in seconds. I swear I could literally see lightning in her eyes when a boy put one of his buggers under the desk. But just as doing the wrong things triggered her rage, good behavior and an eagerness to learn made her shine with pride and happiness. So when I asked for the books she nearly soared through the air while getting them for me. When she realized I wanted to read the books aloud for Scott and not her to read the books for us both, she was even more surprised and was going to get easier books for us. Luckily I stopped her in time and, with the help of a bit of my charm from way back in Niko's days, I convinced her to let me read these books and if they were things in them I couldn't read, she would still be around to help me.
After a while, she agreed and both me and Scott sat down in the reading corner with big pillows in the back of the classroom.
Almost half an hour had passed before we were interrupted by both our mothers coming. But when mom was about to make me leave, Ms. Ginnema convinced her to let me stay a bit more. She explained how she wanted me to take a few tests and see if my reading skills were the only thing over average for my age.
For a while there, I didn't believe she would agree. Ms. Ginnema, after all was something I had realized mom wasn't found of, which was, nearly thirty years old, a non believer of any god and still unmarried. But with several flattering words about her amazing abilities as a mother to be able to make me this good at reading and other stuff, she finally agreed and I said my good byes to Scott.

One hour later, they had it clear that I was more that advanced for this year and should skip at least one year. Obviously it, in a way, was cheating seeing as I had gone to school so many times before. But no one knew about my past lives. And no one would. Three extra lives I had had by then and I never told anyone. This life wouldn't be an exception. So when Ms. Ginnema hurried away with the information to the school's principal with an assurance I would be a second year student in about a week, me and mom walked home hand in had with one ice-cream each to celebrate. I didn't consider Scott's feelings about it even once that day.
