"i'm sorry." peyton said to lili when she walked back in her house that evening after shooting for riverdale. kj was passed out on the couch and peyton had been running her fingers through his hair for the past hour. lili looked shocked, but she sat down next to her little sister and watched as peyton played with kj's hair.

"it's okay." lili said.

"no it's not." the younger reinhart said. "i was being a bitch... i know you were trying to look out for me."

"i'll always protect you, okay? no matter what." lili said, wrapping an arm around peyton. "you are my little sister, and all i want is for you to be happy."

"i love you, lils."

"i love you, too." lili said. "how long has he been asleep?"

"almost two hours." peyton said. "his arms were wrapped around me earlier, but he moved."

"do you like him?" lili asked.

"no, no, no." peyton shut down that idea. "of course not."

"don't get so defensive." lili said. "it's okay for you to move on from clay. you don't deserve to be weighed down by him. plus, i think you and apa would be cute together."

"he doesn't feel that way." peyton said.

"how do you know?" lili asked. "have you even brought it up?"

"no, i can just tell."

"honey, you've only been with two guys in your life, and one of them was a sociopathic dick, so you don't have much experience with this."

"and you do?" peyton joked.

"more than you." lili laughed. "it's not a crazy idea."

"yeah, it is."

"take a chance." lili said. "you never know, one day you might have little kj and peytons running around."

"that would be a sight." peyton laughed. "three kids and five dogs." she said, looking down at kj.

"five?" lili asked. "good luck with that."

"i forgot you're a cat person." peyton gagged jokingly.

lili pushed peyton lightly. "don't hate on my cats."

"whatever you say, boss." peyton laughed.

"i'm going to bed." lili said after moments of silence. "i'm just gonna let kj stay here. are you going to bed soon?"

"maybe in a little bit." peyton smiled. "i don't wanna wake him up yet. he looks too peaceful." she looked down at the man with his head in her lap. peyton continued to run her fingers through his hair.

lili nodded and turned to walk away. "lili?"

"yeah." lili said, turning to face her sister.

"thank you." peyton said. "for everything." lili nodded and smiled at the girl before turning to walk up the stairs that lead to her room. peyton looked back at kj and smiled. "what a crazy idea..."
