"just friends." lili said when she walked into the kitchen and found peyton making pancakes. "that's a load of bullshit, and you know it."

"lili, it's too early for this."

"no, no, no, you aren't getting out of this. it's barely ten o'clock." lili said, sitting on the bar stool in her kitchen. "get me some coffee."

"you have legs." peyton said. when lili showed her puppy dog eyes, peyton folded. "fine, you ass." peyton poured the coffee into lili's favorite mug - she made sure to add one fourth of creamer - and gave it to her.

"thank you, sweetie pie." lili smirked, taking a sip of her coffee. "now, back to more important matters."

"stop talking about kj." peyton said, putting the pancakes on her plate.

"no way. this is the greatest thing to happen to me since i moved out to LA." lili said. "wait, scratch that, it was when i got the role of betty cooper."

"you need a life." peyton said, jumping onto the counter while eating her pancakes.

"nah, i've got you for that." lili laughed. "now, tell me, do you like our new zealand friend?"

"lili, drink your coffee."

"you're not telling me no, so i'm assuming it's because you don't want to admit it to yourself that you do." lili said. "and that's okay, but you have to at some point."

"even if i did like him, it's obvious he doesn't like me, so what's the point?"

"the point is you never know for sure until you give it a try." lili said. "come on, pey. i've seen the way you are with him."

"maybe i don't want to let someone in." peyton said, mashing up her pancakes like a 4 year old would with their food. "maybe i'm scared."

"pey..." lili started. she watched a single tear fall from her sister's eye, and she got up. "i know it's scary to let someone in after what happened with clay. but maybe kj is what you need right now. what if he's your forever?"

"what if he's not?"

"why are you doubting yourself?" lili asked. "that boy is into you, whether he admits it or not. take a chance, pey. you never know what might happen."

"he's too good for me."

"honey, kj is far from perfect, okay? you told me he called you perfect, so if he thinks that, then he's just right for you."

"perfect isn't always a good thing." peyton said. "if i may quote the words of archie andrews: 'you are so perfect. i've never been good enough for you. i'll never be good enough for you.'"

"i'm so regretting sending you the script right about now." lili said under her breath. "will you stop comparing your's and kj's relationship to fictional characters?" she said. "it's pathetic."

"i'm sorry! but what if he was just trying to tell me that we will never work out." peyton said, doubting herself.

lili slapped her on the head. "grow some balls! tell him how you feel!"

"you don't even know how i feel!" peyton said. "and don't hit me again."

"i'll hit you if i want to hit you." lili said. "and i do know how you feel about him. you like him, quite a bit actually."

"no i don't."

"i'll hit you again." lili threatened. "admit it!"

"okay, okay." peyton sighed, looking at her sister's eyes. "i do like him. i'm just afraid of rejection."

lili cheered. "thank god! i was afraid i was going to have to torture that confession out of you." she said. "he won't reject you. i promise, pey."

"don't make promises you can't keep, lils." peyton smiled. "but i love you for trying."

"i can keep it." lili said. "if he rejects you, i'll simply just cut off all his limbs."

"harsh."

"do you expect anything else?"
