Phil glanced up at the flyer literally being shoved in his face.

"Please phil come with me so we can laugh at people together." Pj whined.

Phil pushed his arm away and sighed.

"Even if I could I still wouldn't go to that stupid Halloween dance." Phil replied. He was already in deep with his mom for staying out late drinking after his band's show the week before and he really didn't want to lose phone privileges if he disobeyed her again or worse, have to face his step-father's wrath.

"Can you not just sneak out?" Pj suggested.

Phil shook his head. "I'm not chancing it for a stupid dance."

"Fine I'll ask Sean." Sean was their drummer and Phil knew him well enough to already know his answer would be no. Their rhythm guitarist wouldn't be much better, Felix would already be taking his girlfriend and they took dances seriously.

"Go for it." Phil mumbled, he checked his phone to see he had gotten another text from Dan.

"Would you go if Dan asked you?" Pj huffed.

"Dan would never ask someone like me to even walk to the computer lab, let alone a dance. Besides, he doesn't even know my name." Phil rolled his eyes, resting his hands behind his head. The two boys were currently hiding out from their PE class under the bleachers. PE definitely did not fit their non-conforming, punk aesthetic. The shade from the bleachers made the warm day a bit more tolerable at least.

"You could always tell him your real name. You can walk up to him right now and say 'hey you know that pen pall you've had for the last year and a half? Yeah, that's been me, wanna go out?'"

"Come on, you saw how his group of friends were at the club. They're bullies, Dan's nice, but would he really want to date me when all of his friends are homophobic, immature dicks to everyone?"

"Chris isn't...but I understand where you're coming from my friend." Pj nodded, patting his best friend's shoulder.

Phil's phone rang once more with another text from Dan.

"Ugh just answer it loverboy." Pj groaned, laying back on the grass.

Phil smiled down at his phone as Pj hummed a soft tune.

danisnotonfire: what's with the lack of texts lion? did i say something wrong?

"Oh you don't even know." Phil mumbled to himself. Sure Dan didn't verbally pester his band, but he didn't exactly stop his friends from doing so.

Phil liked to think he knew him better than most, Dan was much more open since they had been texting for so long, but he never had the nerve to tell the guy who had been slightly flirting with him through texts for a year and a half that he was a man. Also, he was a punk, a nobody who wore ripped jeans, band tees, eyeliner, and blue hair dye; he had no idea how Dan, a jock, would react. They may look different, but they had so much in common underneath their opposing exteriors.

And that is why, after so long, Phil still didn't have the balls to reveal his identity to Dan.

AmazingLion: Nah, just talking to a friend, what's up?

danisnotonfire: rachel and i had another fight :( i don't think i want to give her anymore chances.

AmazingLion: Aw I'm sorry Dan :/ maybe she just wasn't the one for you, it is only high school after all. Think of all the babes you'll meet at uni when we graduate.

This wasn't unheard of to Phil, Dan had said many times before that he would never go back to Rachel, the head cheerleader and his long time on again, off again girlfriend; yet, he always did. Phil never knew what he saw in her, then again Phil was 100% into boys so he wasn't exactly one to judge.
