Complete darkness. That's all I felt...or was in anyway. Sweat trickled down my face as I ran through many doors trying to get out ,but this place was a fun house. Complete madness and noway out.. And I wasn't the only one there either. Oh no. For many like me ,today was suppose to be a fun day at Amusement Rally. In fact ,the amusement park was the only thing fun about this town. Once it left ,so did the laughter. But it seems that the laughs left early this year.

I think back to the day before when I was thinking of not coming. Damn. Why didn't I just stay home. I stepped through a door and stopped to catch my breath. I knew I wasn't going to last long ,but hey ,why not try to stay alive? Ahhh the smell of cottan candy. I hate it. Not to mention my position. But I guess I should explain it instead of just talking about. It all happened only about a couple days ago.

I was sitting in school when my Social Studies teacher Mr. Clark brought up the topic of Amusement Rally. Like always ,I just sat there. Kind of excited ,but the rides were getting old. One of the good things about it is that we got a day off of school ,because the teachers wanted to go. Everyone else in the classroom however were jumping up and down like a classroom of five year olds. My friend Melody walked over to me.

"Are you excited, Kora?" I gave her a look of " Are you kidding me?"

"What's that look for?" She asked ,obviously not getting it.

"I'm not going." I said flatly.

" WHAT!? But you have to. Everybodies going to be there."

"That just proves that nobody here has anything better to do."

"What is there to do, Kora? The only thing cool here is the Dairy Queen ,and that's been overrun by all the jocks and sluts." I had to admit. She had a point.

"I'll find something. Don't I always?" She stayed quiet. I had got her. Our friendship is like those typical, stereotype movie ones. There's the smart girl who sticks to the rules ,and then there's the outgoing girl who likes to party and doesn't like being bored. Guess which one I am.

"Why don't you wanna go?" Melody wined.

"Because the rides are all the same. I want something new ,something fresh. All they have is those booths where you get cheap prizes, the old rides, and carts where you get cotton candy." I explained. She folded her arms and gave me a pouty face. That was her way of getting what she wanted and she used it well. I usually gave in. I sighed.

"I'm going to regret this." She smiled and jumped up and down.

"Thank you sssoo much. Love you." She said while hugging me.

"Uh-huh."

After school I went my usual way ,which was home. On the way there I looked at the ghost town that I lived in. All you would see is a bunch of old, crumbly buildings which were usually antique stores. Now don't get me wrong ,I like the antique shops. I like looking at things that held a story. But sometimes some of the items would give me a negative feeling. Most of them would be pictures of the carnival or something from one of the people who worked there.

Then there was the Dairy Queen and the Mercantile. I like the Mercantile more. Not just because the neighborhood whores hung out there at Dairy Queen ,but the fact is that it was a classic. I might be the partier one out of the two of us ,but I liked calm times too. Like anything else here if you stepped into it it's like you traveled back in time. But instead of the western-kind of look ,you'd get a fifties feel.

And now that it was Fall and the leaves were falling ,it seemed like it made this place look older. Which is a shock. I swear if this place looked any older it would turn to ash. The grocery store wasn't anything special and neither was the gas station. The smell of apple filled my nose ,and honestly it made my mouth water. We are one of the number one places to get apples. Which is why we haven't gone off the map yet.

The walk home is a long one so it's not a shock to see kids already outside playing. Then there's one more thing about Fall. It makes me cold. I shivered and pulled my jacket closer to me. It's not like it's 50 degrees out ,but I just might be able 2 take Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer's place. Finally I got home. I walked up the front porch steps and grabbed my keys. I quickly unlocked the door not wanting to be in the cold much longer ,and stepped inside. I took off my shoes at the door and ran upstairs to my room.

It was time to finish my homework. Not like I had anything better to do. I finished in which I thought it was quick but when I looked at my clock I realized it was 7. I'm really not good at math. Setting my books down I reached over to my lamp to turn it. There was light out but not too much. I had to admit. Sometimes my room looked pretty. There was pink curtains around my window and a plain, wooden desk I would draw on. Then there was my dresser and nightstand...which were also wooden.

It was a plain place with a bit of old-time beauty to it. Later my mom finally got home and made dinner and by that time it was already 9. I ran upstairs and got into the shower. Oh and there's also another reason we stay on the map. Apple shampoo and body wash. Though it seems noone else uses it 'cuse I smell the kids at my school. And some don't smell so nice. I got out of the shower and put my long, brown hair in a ponytail. I couldn't complain. I wasn't too bad looking. Though I don't have the biggest boobs ,but I'm proud of it.

I put my pajamas on and layed down in my bed. It was soft ,but sometimes hot. I lay there trying to sleep and also thinking about the carnival that was coming. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad to go. Would get me out of the house. As I thought this I started to hear cheerful music. I sat up in my bed and looked around. It sounded like it was coming from far away. I got up and lifted my window. The wind hit me lightly and it felt good. I heard carnival music. Amusement Rally has arrived in Edinville.
