I stood there in aw of it. Now things were getting exciting. The biggest smile grew on my face and I started to run for home. But that was stopped ,for a man in green and bright red suit walked in front of my path

"Hello little girl. Pretty early to be coming to the carnival. Don' you think?" The man had a high pitched voice. Which was surprising ,because he really didn't look like he would. It was also a shock because the man was actually kind of attractive. He had brown hair with blue eyes ,which in my thoughts ,was a perfect match.

"Uuuumm yeah ,I guess. I was just checking out the carnival before it set up. I wanted to see if you had anything new..which you do I see." I said while gesturing to the fun house. His gaze went to where I gestured and he looked back to me and he had a smile.

"I can tell you'r excited. I am to. I can't wait to see how all the kids will find it." As much as the man seemed nice I really didn't want to stick around.

"Umm I best b-"

"What's your name ,little girl?" He asked. I thought a second to see if I could give him a fake name.

"Kora...Yours?" He let out a small chuckle ,and his voice made it sound creepier. I wonder if he had been sucking in too much helium.

"My name is Jake Filigan. But everybody calls me Happy Face." He bent down and made his smile even bigger. I jumped back which in turn made him laugh even more.

"Don't worry I don't bite. But you might want to watch out for the lion." As he said this I heard a loud roar from behind me. I turned around to see the lion he was talking about being carried in a cage. That was new too. I turned back and Happy Face was gone. Looking everywhere I continued to walk. I really didn't want to get pied in the face. I walked home. When I got there mom was making dinner.

"Where have you been?"

"Oh. I was just at the carnival checking out some things. Turns out they have some new attractions." She turned around with a look of surprise.

"Really?"

"Yup. Isn't it great? Something new this year ,finally. Now I'm not gonna be bored there." She grinned and put my dinner in a bowl. Tonight was Ramen night. My mom and I have traditions. For example Monday is game night, Tuesday is gardening night, Wednesday is watching re-runs of punk'd and scare tactics, Thursday is Ramen night, and Friday is resting and watching Grimm night.

"So I'm guessing you'r going with Melody?"

"Yea. I originally wasn't going to go. But now I wanna see the new fun house they have."

"Fun house? That sounds interesting. I wish I could see it." I gave her a wondering look.

"Well..why can't you?" She gave me an innocent face.

"Well I'm just busy. When you're a grown-up you don't get to do things like that." I felt bad for my mom. She never has the time to do much anymore. What with supporting us and all. Ever since my father left ,she's had to hold down the fort.

"Have I ever told you that I love you?" She looked up from her bowl of ramen and smiled.

"Plenty of times."

"Well plenty's not enough." The rest of the night was just the two of us hanging out 'till 10. Eventually I went to sleep ,but it was a working progress because all that was on my mind was fun house.

The next day for me went by fast. I had to do chorse and run errands ,but after that I was home free. I got ready, gave my mom a hug, and ran for Amusement Rally. It was like everybody and their brother was there. Which in fact they did. It was like a heard of elephants and that's weird ,because there's only a population of 278 in this town. Sad right? Eventually I found Melody in the crown and she seemed a little nervous.

"What's wrong?:"

"Nothing just..I'm worried that Madelyn will do some-"

"Again Melody. What will she do? Why don't we just try to have a good time. You're the one who was worked up about this place." She looked at me with the" You're right" face. I knew I was. Melody enjoyed herself like a little kid in a candy store ,while my mind was focused on the fun house. Her and I were about to go into the Imagination Ring when we heard a loud scream...and a roar.
