My grandpa shook really bad. When he got his coffee in the morning, we could only fill his cup half way or he would spill it. He has always shook, but not this bad. Actually, I can't recall him not shaking. Anyway, to add to that he also couldn't see or walk well. So he stayed inside most of the time. And that was hard for him, because he loved to be outside mowing, doing the garden, fishing etc. But when he did go outside he would sit in his rocking chair on the front porch. Let me describe the scene to you where this took place.
When you go out the front door and turn to the right, there is a step down about 5-10 inches. Then once you step down there are two rocking chairs and a little table in between them. And then just some random stuff behind them.
One day my grandpa went outside to go and sit in his rocking chair. And when he turned to take that step down, he missed the step and toppled to the ground. My grandpa is very very tall so it was a hard hit. ( I will put details about all of his surgeries at the bottom of the chapter so you know what kind of trouble this fall could have caused. ) We all rushed over to see if he was alright, and he was! Oh my goodness we were so relieved. Right after that, we took him inside to let him relax from the fall.
Later that night we had dinner over there. My grandpa was still saying he was fine so we got him a Pepsi and some dinner. We had filled the cup up with Pepsi only half way ( like usual ) so he wouldn't spill it. After he had taken a drink he sat his cup down. And he said " oh my goodness, I'm not shaking!" We looked at him like he was joking ( which is like him ). He saw the expressions on our faces and said " no I'm being serious". To prove he was right he took another drink. And low and behold he wasn't joking! He really wasn't shaking. WE WERE ALL SHOCKED!!! We thought the fall would cause some sort of trouble. But after all, it stopped his shaking!!
We laugh about it and all thinking it was all a wonderful coincidence. But if you really think about it, it was totally planned by God.All my grandpa's surgeries.
My grandpa has had many surgeries. ( some you won't believe me on, but it happened ). Anyway here we go...
- he has had back surgery on his spine... twice
- he had a shunt in his head because he had too much fluid entering his brain
- ( here's the weird one ) something in this throat didn't work right, so he had to have a surgery moving his stomach into his right ARMPIT. you heard me right... his armpit. So he had to always sit propped up or else he would aspirate ( throw up pretty much ) and it would go in his lung.
- when he was younger he worked for a rock crushing company and they would roll huge boulders into a crushing machine and my grandpa worked that. He would give the guys a go signal and let the boulder roll into the machine. Well one day my grandpa was doing something on the machine and they let the boulder roll and it crushed my grandpas leg. So he had to get it amputated, then he got a prosthetic leg.I think that's all of them, I think. So ya.
Also I would like to add that when I was telling this story I put stuff like ' he HAD a shunt in his head ' and stuff like that. I just wanted to say that he recently passed and now is in heaven so he technically doesn't have it anymore. I just wanted to clear that up.Thanks guys!!!!!!<3
