Chapter 3

The train journey to Hogwarts had been quite uneventful apart from when Sirius burnt his eyebrows off whilst playing exploding snap. The other boys found this immensely hilarious but in the end had figured out a way to grow then back. The four boys had become really close friends and had promised each other to continue being friends even if they were sorted into different houses.

The train came to a halt and everyone emptied out of it onto the platform. The older students made their way towards Hogwarts whilst the first years were greeted by a gigantic man, who looked around 12 feet tall, with a big bushy black beard and warm black eyes. The man had introduced himself as Rubeus Hagrid; the keeper of keys and grounds at Hogwarts. He had led them to a set of boats that were floating on the Black Lake that would lead them to Hogwarts.

"Wicked! We're going by boats" said an astonished Sirius staring at the boats.

"Didn't you know? It's tradition for the first years to arrive by boats" said Remus joining Sirius.

"How do you know that Remus" asked James looking at Remus.

"It's written in Hogwarts a History" replied Remus as if it was the most obvious thing.

"You actually read that?" Questioned Sirius, turning to look at Remus.

"Well, we all know you can't read Sirius" said James laughing and clapping Sirius on the back.

"Oh sod off" said Sirius rolling his eyes but laughing nonetheless.

"Isn't this lake called the Black Lake" asked Peter feeling left out.

"The Sirius Black Lake" shouted Sirius causing the other unexpected first years and Hagrid to jump in surprise. The other three, now used to Sirius's obnoxious behavior, just shook their heads and smiled.

"Mr Black, I assure you this lake is not named after you" said Hagrid smiling at Sirius  "Everybody find a boat and get in, four per boat. I'd be quick so we are not late " he continued addressing the class.

Remus, Sirius, James and Peter found a boat and got in together.

"Wait... how are we supposed to move these things, I'm not rowin-" said Sirius but was cut of when the boat started moving.

"It's something called patience" said Remus looking at his friend.

Sirius rolled his eyes whilst the others laughed.

"Very funny" he said folding his hands across his chest and looking away from his friends.

The journey was quiet most of the time apart from the soft sound of the wind and the sound of boats sailing through water. This silence was however broken by Sirius.

"Can you guys swim?" He asked innocently.

"Yes"

"Yep"

"I can but why?" Asked Remus getting suspicious but but instead of getting an answer from Sirius, Sirius started shaking the boat. Before he could say anything James had joined and together they were shaking the boat so much, Peter and Remus had to hold on to the sides of the boats for dear life. However that didn't turn out useful as James and Sirius managed to topple the boat over.

"AGHHHHHH!"

The rest of the students turned around just in time to see the four boys fall into the water.
