A/N I don't any of these characters J.K Rowling does. She also owns Harry Potter. I hope you like this chapter, I apologise if it's a bit boring as it's just giving an insight on the characters. Enjoy :)

Chapter 1

Remus Lupin couldn't believe his eyes. This can't be true he thought, this must be some kind of mistake. Yet in his hands was evidence that this in fact was real.

So it was true, he, Remus Lupin, was going to Hogwarts!

-

James Potter always knew he was going to get into Hogwarts. I mean coming from an old pureblood family, what were the chances he wouldn't? Slim to nothing, that's what the chances were but that didn't mean he was not excited to get his letter.

"MUM! DAD!" Shouted James from the top of the stairs.

"James we are not deaf! You don't have to shout!" Said his mother sternly, coming to the bottom of the stairs a smile drawn on her face. Emily Potter was a beautiful woman. She had dark red hair that reached her shoulders curling slightly at the ends and chocolate brown eyes that were full of love. She was 5 foot 7, though she looked much shorter, and her face, even if she was in her early forties, possessed no sign of wrinkles, giving her the look of a woman many years younger. She was wearing a dark blue knitted jumper, her mother had knitted her before she died, and dark jeans. A gold necklace rested on her chest that he husband had given her on their last anniversary.

"Sorry mum," apologised James before yawning " Is it here yet?"

"If by it you mean your Hogwarts letter, then no." Said Daniel Potter coming to stand next to his wife at the foot of the stairs and putting an arm round her waist. Daniel Potter looked exactly like his son, James. The both had a "mop" of messy black hair that they always loved ruffling up with their hand and warm hazel eyes that were behind circular thin-rimmed glasses. You see both the Potter males had horrendous eyesight and Emily always joked saying they had the eyesight of a bat. Daniel Potter was tall, 6 foot 0, and had an athletic build due to his many hours teaching his son how to play Quidditch. He sported a loose red t-shirt and grey sweatpants as he, unlike his wife, had just gotten out of bed a few minutes ago.

"Oh, okay then" said James disappointedly "I guess I'll go back to bed then" He started turning around but was stopped by his father's voice.

"Bed?" He said, amusement clearly shown in his voice "But you just woke up, what's the point of going back to bed?"
