"Take the next right, I think it's a short cut." My older brother's voice spoke from the front seat as my mom drove us from a party that we had gone to, there wasn't any drinking since I was only ten but it had ended later than expected and my brother didn't want to walk home. She nodded her head to him and turned on her blinker, turning onto a narrow two lane road that ran behind our neighborhood. I closed my eyes for a split second before I heard both my mother and my brother screaming and a force that jolted my forward.
In movies, everything goes in slow motion, and the driver and the passengers don't realize what's going on until they stop moving. However, in real life, you know exactly what's going on. You see the car crunching in on you, you feel the metal crush around you, and you hear the screaming of the people in the car with you.
"9-1-1, what's your emergency?"
"My mom, little sister, and I have been in a car accident; my mom isn't responding, but my little sister is still conscious." I started to fade out a little after that and watched as my brother dropped the phone before looking at me sadly. "I love you, my little Rose Bug."

"Interstate forty-three claims another pair of victims late last night, claiming the life of thirty-six-year-old Jemma Johnson and sixteen-year-old JacksonJohnson. There has been one survivor of the wreck, ten-year-old June Johnson." I let out a soft sniffle and the television was quickly shot off before my father turned around and looked at me. His eyes held so much pain and relief to see that I was alive, I tried to talk to him but I was unable to and I clawed my throat trying to talk more.
"No, baby. Don't try to talk, your vocal cords were damaged in the crash. Baby girl, the doctors told me you may not be able to talk again." I let out a quiet sob, and he held me closely trying to calm me down.
"We'll go home once the doctors say its okay, I promise." I started to black out and he whispered something in my ear. "I love you, baby girl."
